JOB FUNCTION: Keep and maintain commercial and institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition. Applicants must be open to working at various locations in the Northern, Virginia area. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Utility Cleaner, one must be able to: Keep commercial and institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition, Operate floor cleaning and other cleaning equipment, Sweep, mop, and/or scrub hallways and stairs, Dust woodwork and furniture, Maintain and re-supply restrooms, Empty trash and garbage containers, Clean and sweep shop areas, Clean snow and debris from building entrances, Pick-up any classified waste that cannot be put down chutes, Adhere to safety practices and procedures, Perform other job-related duties as required, May be required to work overtime and subject to 24-hour call, and work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Also, one must be physically capable of: Lifting or carrying up to 75 lbs, Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking, Working inside and outside, in inclement weather; and on wet, icy and slippery surfaces, Using a ladder or lift and work on structures or equipment above ground level, Working in cramped or uncomfortable places and positions, pushes/pulls/lifts heavy equipment/supplies/parts. Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions. A willingness to work rotational shift if necessary, including days, evenings and nights, as well as, overtime, weekends, and holidays. EXPERIENCE: One year experience in performance of similar duties as described herein with working knowledge of equipment and materials required to complete assignment. EDUCATION: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance. Seeking local candidates only. No relocation provided.
