Valuation Control
A Tier 1 Investment Bank based in the City is looking to hire a junior candidate to join their Rates Exotics Hybrids Bookrunner business.
The Rates business has been consistently ranked in the Top 3 by its peers and competitors. It is one of the most profitable businesses within the bank and my client continues to expand its product coverage in order to maintain this position. At a macro level, the business can be divided into the following sub-desks:
- European Flow Rates Options
- FX Hybrid
- Multi-Asset Hybrid
- Inflation
-Longevity
The Rates Bookrunning team is committed to providing their many stakeholders and business partners with timely and accurate information that is used for numerous purposes, including exposure management by the trading desk, the management of market risk, the production of valuations, ensuring accurate collateral calls are made. There is a strong performance culture embedded within the team and wherever possible they seek to exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Each bookrunner within the team is aligned to one or more trading books and is responsible for ensuring that risk and pl is generated and fully substantiated on a daily basis, all new deals are analysed in detail, and any results that differ from expectations are fully investigated. Bookrunners are committed to a process of continuous improvement, whereby small improvements are constantly being identified and implemented on an ad-hoc basis. Larger projects are also undertaken by the team as required. New business will periodically need to be on-boarded into the Bank's systems, requiring collaboration across several areas to make sure that the correct information flows smoothly upstream and downstream.
You will need to quickly gain an understanding of the mechanics of the products the structured exotics desk trade, how to value them and what risks they have. The team deals with many systems and a high degree of IT-literacy is required for the bookrunning role. You will be a strong team player, confident communicator, driven, hard-working and very enthusiastic. You will also need to be independent-minded, willing to think issues through in depth and able to challenge established ideas
You will have:
- A Masters/PhD
- Science / Maths A-Levels (preferred)
- Solid IT skills
- Previous Actuary Experience
- Sound understanding of time value of money
- Solid understanding of risk
You will be:
- A strong communicator
- Comfortable dealing with numbers
- IT literate
