The Valuation Risk Group sits within Trading Market Risk, supporting and adding value to the various Wholesale Banking businesses, who trade an extensive portfolio of Equity, Interest Rate, Credit, Property and Hybrid Derivatives. It is primarily responsible for independent price verification (IPV) across all asset classes and the calculation of Credit Valuation Adjustments (CVA). This role sits within a team of four, giving opportunities for exposure to diverse portfolios and interaction with a variety of other departments.
The team is looking for an IPV Associate to expand the team, increasing the depth and breadth of price testing coverage.
As a Valuation Risk Group Associate your main responsibilities will involve:
- Monthly price testing of derivative portfolios
- Evaluation of market data inputs used for Fair Value Adjustments (both Market and Credit Risk)
- Regular interaction with Traders
- Keeping abreast of developments over a broad range of Markets and asset classes and the interrelations between them
What we will be looking for in you:
To succeed in this role you will need to display an enthusiastic attitude towards working in a challenging and technically demanding environment. The ideal candidate will build and maintain relationships between Risk, the Front Office and all other business areas while applying best practice control principles.
As a Valuation Risk Group Associate your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Previous IPV experience in at least one derivative asset class
- Very strong product knowledge in at least one derivative asset class
- How changes in vanilla asset prices can potentially impact more illiquid or unobservable market parameters
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work without supervision under time pressure
- Good Excel / SQL skills to deal with the challenges of a changing environment
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerate discipline
- Awareness of the Control environment and the impact of Valuations on the organisation
