Vax OpenVMS Contractor Job in Etobicoke Xxxxxx, Ontario Canada
Our client is an industry leader in market intelligence distribution. We require a VAX OpenVMS contractor for an initial 3 month contract engagement (please note that there is a very strong potential for this contract to be extended).
The key responsibilities will include supporting daily production deliverables through existing procedures (current procedures are set up with Vax routines, SQL DTS/SSIS and Excel Macro); maintaining applications which would involve minor modifications of the above routines; compiling and writing documentation for program development; performing data analysis to understand the application or data issues and performing basic troubleshooting.
The key requirements for this role are practical experience with OpenVMS v. 7.3.2; experience with programming languages such as VaxBasic, IDML or UserBase; experience working in a production support/operations team; the ability to elaborate on logic flow from existing codes; production support experience on applications with large volumes of transactional data; very strong problem solving and analytical skills and effective communication skills. Experience with MS SQL 2000/2005 and Excel Macros is needed and MS SQL 2008 would be an asset.
