VB.NET Programmer Job in Eau Claire 54703, Wisconsin US
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Senior Programmer with an emphasis in SQL, Visual Basic and VB.NET development to help with Menards’ Merchandising and Marketing applications. This position requires coordinating system installation with user departments and operations to ensure satisfactory results. The position requires a highly motivated, team-oriented person with excellent communication skills to provide advanced level support for all Merchandising related applications and Team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Development Support:
- Using SQL, 4GL, Visual Basic and VB.NET to develop, maintain and enhance merchandising applications related applications for the Buying Office and Marketing Staff
- Provide to ISMM Team Leader weekly updated task information on the projects that are being worked on
- Work with Buying Office Team Members, Helpdesk and technical support Team Members to troubleshoot problems as they arise
- Meet with Business Users to evaluate customer satisfaction
- Learn and maintain an in-depth knowledge of User's operations to facilitate communication regarding requirements
- Actively participate in developing program specifications, writing code, testing and implementing program changes and program development
- Develop test plans and thoroughly test and debug all programs prior to implementation
- Mentor less experienced developers on the development process and programming languages
- Work closely with Team Leaders and Project Managers in providing timeline and task information based on a proposed project scope
- Work with all Buying Office Team Members to troubleshoot problems as they arise
- Follow and reinforce the "Menards Values"
* Project Standards and Procedures:
- Follow all Corporate Standards and IS Systems Standards to develop and support projects
- Provide input to IS Standards if existing standards require modifications or changes
* Production Issues:
- Identify problem trends pro-actively
- Execute action plan(s)
- Follow established process for problem handling or resolution
* Security and Confidentiality:
- Maintain information confidentiality and security
- Protect, prevent and report all unauthorized attempts to obtain corporate information
- Suggest and recommend ideas for systems and data security
*Other:
- Consistently monitor own work to ensure the highest level of quality
- Suggest and recommend better ways of improving the quality of work in Merchandising Systems
- Other tasks as assigned by the IS MM Team Leader or Manager
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Programming or MIS related field
- Strong proficiency of SQL, Visual Basic and VB.NET programming languages (1-3 years professional experience required), including triggers, stored procedures and 4GL
- 1-3 years experience with True DBGrid, UNIX and Informix Databases is desirable
- Excellent design and analytical skills
- Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of all Windows operating systems from Windows 95 through Windows XP
- Work well on both individual and team-oriented projects
- Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work
- May be required to work overtime
- Relocation to Eau Claire, WI required
