Vehicle Systems Engineer
Vehicle Systems Engineer- Technical oversight from the start to finish; writing both mechanical and electrical requirements. In addition, experience with certifications/compliances, planning for testing for the initial build and transition into manufacturing would be optimal. Previous experience with Electrical or Mechanical systems for automotive or heavy duty truck/vehicles. Primary focus of integrating components of a chassis including the Powertrain, brake system, tires, engines, drivetrain, steering, suspensions, transmission, electro-mechanical components, etc. are crucial for this position. This engineer will specify the integration not the individual component design. They are responsible for the integration of the vehicle system architecture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knowledge of
· Lead and guide vehicle system technical design and development to successfully achieve project objectives. To include leading the effort from project initiation through initial build through the transition to manufacturing.
· Defines and establishes system requirements from customer requirements, allocating requirements between mechanical and electrical and establishing traceability to test procedures to very requirements are validated.
· Develop test plans and procedures to verify vehicle system meets customer requirements
· Hold technical design reviews and customer reviews as necessary.
· Perform systems modeling, simulation and analysis as necessary.
· Define vehicle system architectures.
· Support development of engineering quotes for new and momentum business.
· Focal point for project technical communication and information.
· Manages the technical scope of the project to ensure compliance with requirements without un-costed scope growth.
· Proactively manages technical obstacles both internal and external to the project in an organized and process driven fashion
· Ensure on-time delivery of all technical deliverables within allocated budget.
· Establish and maintain technical project metrics
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree ME or EE from an accredited engineering program and 5 years direct experience with system development programs (preferably vehicle systems).
Ability and experience leading engineers in a technical program/project development effort.
Experience writing and developing system requirements and corresponding traceability to validation procedures
Experience writing technical specifications for suppliers.
Experience supporting application engineering and business development engineering quotes.
Experience creating and delivering technical presentations to all levels of management and leadership.
Experience with Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word. Microsoft Project experience desirable
