Vertical Solutions Engineer
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Vertical Solutions Engineer (VSE) is responsible for delivering a validated market-leading vertical solutions architecture by providing high-level design and for validating through “Proof of Concept” the integration of the different components of solutions. The VSE will also work with Huawei partners in each vertical to provide a complete and time to market solutions meeting the customers’ end-to-end solution requirements.
The VSE will be working with a cross-functional team to ensure that the Huawei delivered solutions are applicable to a wide variety of customer environments.
The Vertical Solutions Engineer requires a solid understanding of different Huawei technologies and products required for each vertical market and will be working on the integration of different components together including Routing and Switching, Unified Communication and Collaboration, and Data Center.
The Vertical Solutions Engineer shall demonstrate knowledge of the industry vertical priorities and trends and solution development. He/She should provide technical leadership to Huawei account teams and works closely with partner and system integrators to develop the right solutions, provide technical and design guidance to customers and influence customer technical decision makers.
The ideal candidate will have strong ability to write solution design guides documents and excellent experience working with external partners and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the integration, design guidance and POC parts of the development process of selected vertical solutions.
- Become the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) of Huawei Vertical Solutions
- Identify industry trends that have a potential impact on the overall architecture and partner integration flexibility.
- Develop design guidance documents and technical presentation (Technical Design Maker documents) for internal and external use
- Help solution managers in understanding and prioritizing technical and architectural requirements
- Engage with selected strategic customers to support the account team win the project and better understand the real-world environment in which the solution is used and collect feedback
- Work with Huawei partners on the technical level to accelerate customer engagements and expand Huawei solutions portfolio
- Perform competitive analysis of offerings from various other vendors
- Regularly provide and validate innovative solution ideas for consideration from customer and industry engagements
- Enablement of field account teams through knowledge transfer
- Present Huawei solutions and technical designs internally and externally
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Certifications/Licensures:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent in technical field.
Relevant Work Experience:
Minimum:
- 8-12 years overall related experience in a networking industry
- 5+ years specific experience working as a solution engineer across one or more areas of Routing, Switching, UCC and Data Center
- Strong experience supporting vertical markets (such as education, retail, ISP, manufacturing, healthcare)
Preferred: Experience in sales/system engineering
Skills (Technical and/or General):
Minimum: Strong Enterprise background, with core experience in networking/routing/switching
- Strong ability to translate industry business requirements into technical requirements
- Strong technical writing skills
- Self motivated to develop and maintain technical and soft skill sets and product knowledge to maximize value and to deliver quality solutions and transfer of design information to our customers
- Possess outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong ability to build relationships among partners, customers, marketing, and sales
- Ability to work in environment with high autonomy in defining initial goals, addressing complex issues as they arise and delivering time sensitive results
- Willing to travel 30% of time as needed to work with customers, partners and internal solutions and product development teams
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge and skills supporting multiple, different product lines /solution sets
- The ability to integrate multiple product lines within a single vertical or across multiple verticals
- CCIE certification
