Vice President
Main Function:
- To support Debt Finance Directors to originate, transact and manage large ticket debt transactions.
- To Maximise income contribution by transacting debt financed deals recognising the need to balance return with credit risk considerations.
Main Responsibilities:
Business Development – 20%
· Support Debt Finance Directors and Associate Directors to originate deal opportunities by preparing presentations, maintaining databases and participate in the calling programme on KBIs (external internal) and clients (existing and target).
· Operate in a professional manner to ensure that KBI are keen to return with repeat business
· Support presentations to clients in a manner that demonstrates knowledge of their requirements, understanding of their business and competency to deliver a solution.
· Work with Credit and specialist product areas to offer customers a comprehensive and competitive package to meet their requirements
Deal transaction – 70%
· Ensure that we deliver what we promise – no "deal creeping"
· Along with the Director, review business plans, prepare credit applications, complete analysis of financial models using the Debt Finance model and undertake a rigorous review of the target business, including legal, financial, environmental, management, commercial and market due diligence
· Contribute to the structuring of a solution for the customer and prepare detailed Outline Terms to support a credit application.
· Where appropriate work with Barclays Syndications to underwrite and sell down participations to other banks
· Support with the negotiation of the details of the deal with the customer (and their advisors), the equity investor and review all acquisition terms with legal support. Review and complete bespoke legal documentation covering loan facilities, subordination agreements and security documentation.
Governance / Personal Development / Administration – 10%
· Be fully aware and compliant with all governance issues affecting Debt Finance
· Ensure quality of data within our systems is robust
· Prepare a Personal Development action plan and action – seeking support from Performance Manager and others
· Attend team meetings on a regular basis to maintain dialogue / sharing of information to ensure up to date knowledge of market place, business development activity / initiatives, competitors and people issues etc.
· Support other Associate Directors and Managers in identifying strengths and weakness in their own skills and attributes.

Knowledge of the Bank's products, services and policies and/or other specialist
knowledge required to undertake the role:
· Good knowledge of the products and services available to Debt Finance customers across the Barclays Group.
· An ability to identify opportunities where liaison with product specialists across the Group would produce a multi-product integrated solution for the customer.
· Good understanding of policy and strategy within the Group as they relate to demands of the customer base.
· Understanding of macro-economic factors affecting the debt market.
Other requirements specific to the role:
· You will have a broad understanding of corporate business and financial issues
· Likely to have previously undertaken an AD role within the bank (or equivalent) for at least 12 months
· A suitable professional qualification will be held (e.g. degree, ACIB, CFA)
