Vice President, Chief Medical Officer - Endoscopy Division

Vice President, Chief Medical Officer - Endoscopy Division Purpose: Oversee all medical and clinical activities for the Endoscopy division. Provide or obtain expert medical analysis and guidance for all circumstances requiring such. Lead Clinical Affairs team to develop divisional clinical strategy, trial design, and execution. Participate in the assessment of internal and external product development initiatives. Collaborate to ensure the safety and quality of our products. Serve as the spokesperson with government agencies and other key constituencies. Responsibilities: - Work with division president to fully understand and inform the needs of the business unit. - Develop clinical strategy to support business goals. Through Clinical Affairs team develop protocols, ensure trial execution, and complete regulatory and/or publication efforts. - Responsible for working with RD and NBD to help determine future product strategy to best meet unmet needs of clinicians. - Participate in physician advisory panel meeting. - Attend key scientific conferences - Oversee clinical due diligence of NBD opportunities. - Participate in the formulation of the technology strategy through assessment of both internal and external product development initiatives. Provide medical and clinical assessment on potential acquisition targets. Provide input into the strategic importance of markets not currently served by the division. - Support the BSC Quality Master plan by ensuring the safety and quality of our products. Work collaboratively with cross functional team including Quality, Regulatory, and RD to provide timely and thorough investigation and analysis of product issues. - Serve as a spokesperson on matters of high significance with government agencies and other key constituencies. - Through Customer Education and Sponsorships team develop programs to ensure that our customers have access to hands on and didactic training that supports the appropriate use of our products. Maintain a keen understanding of relevant compliance considerations regarding interactions with Healthcare Professionals. - Adhere to and promote the principles of the Corporate policy on ethics in human research. - Participate in all strategic, organizational, and execution decisions relating to the operation of the core Clinical function Quality Systems Duties and Responsibilities - Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC's Quality Policy, Quality System, and appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented. Qualifications - Medical degree with board certification in Gastroenterology. - 15+ years Clinical, medical and industry experience (device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology), including 10+ years in a managerial or key project consultant capacity managing clinical and technical professionals in a cross-functional product development setting. - Medical understanding of relevant disease areas, opportunities, and safety issues. - Experience working with engineering teams in assessing and developing innovative medical technologies - Experience and understanding of the role of clinical (GCP) and pre-clinical (GLP) in product development and worldwide commercialization. - Demonstrated understanding of current laws, regulations, standards, guidelines governing the conduct of Phase II, III and IV clinical studies. - Demonstrated success in Phase IV program strategies and management, advertising copy clearance, and marketing support. - Tenacious and adept at managing very senior level relationships and communications. - Excellent communication skills (articulate and persuasive) to scientific and non-scientific groups. Demonstrated written presentation skills with a commitment to excellence. - Direct experience in developing medical education programming and fostering relationships with top opinion leaders in the field. - Demonstrated high degree of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to establish credibility internally and externally. - Pro-active, energetic, self-assured professional with high personal integrity and ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with medical professionals. - Exercises good judgment in the face of conflicting pressures. Balances business needs with compliance risks without compromising compliance. - Ability to make sound decisions in addressing a difficult issue, or to take appropriate actions that result in effective outcomes. Will stand alone if needed. Working Conditions: a) Travel requirements - approximately 50% of the time b) Physical/mental requirements of job - no special requirements c) Type of worksite - the majority of the work will be in an office environment
