SCOPE AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The individual will manage the Diligence Services team, responsible for providing Oaktree’s current and prospective clients with the due diligence information necessary to understand Oaktree’s business practices and investment strategies globally. This team (a) prepares due diligence packages, which may include due diligence questionnaires, proposals, professional references and other auxiliary documentation including supporting quantitative information; (b) supports marketing reps in their sales efforts as it pertains to providing ad-hoc sales inquiry support; (c) responds to client questionnaires for monitoring purposes; (d) maintains standard diligence collateral for actively marketed products; (d) maintains consultant databases with relevant Oaktree information for marketing purposes; and (e) serves as the central preparer of Oaktree’s Assets Under Management, personnel and client-related data.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage the staffing model of the team to ensure appropriate coverage of Oaktree’s strategies, due diligence and monitoring support needs and certain corporate reporting-related data;
- Ensure the excellence of deliverables produced by the Diligence Services team, implementing quality control/review of (i) content and messaging, for appropriateness, relevance, flow and style; (ii) data accuracy; and (iii) format and presentation;
- Proactively solicit input from internal and external constituents regarding the quality of the team’s deliverables, incorporating feedback into team routines and/or new processes or tools;
- Provide managerial support of team members, including training, clearly setting performance expectations and ensuring a continuous feedback loop around such;
- Manage the pipeline of ad-hoc and recurring requests to be fulfilled by the Diligence Services team. Prioritize and agree upon appropriate deadlines with requesting parties (usually marketing reps on behalf of external clients) and ensure appropriate capacity planning amongst team members to ensure the team’s ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines;
- Oversee the creation of due diligence packages for Oaktree funds that are in-market or going to market. Strategically evaluate and create the diligence materials for the market opportunity;
- Manage relationships with functional areas across the company involved in the due diligence process including but not limited to portfolio management, portfolio analysis and reporting, marketing representatives, client services representatives, accounting, compliance, legal and operations;
- Oversee the technology and process for storing RFP responses so that the most current responses are leveraged in future RFPs;
- Oversee the AUM reporting process;
- Oversee updates to consultant databases and strategically identify online partners through which Oaktree should populate information regarding the firm and our funds for marketing purposes;
- Partner with Compliance to understand rules relating to the disclosure of information in the diligence process. Ensure that the Diligence Services team abides by the compliance guidelines; develop tools to streamline the use of disclaimer or other such language in all diligence collateral;
- Identify and execute on opportunities to build efficiencies through process and technological improvements around routine-based tasks; and
- During periods of high volume, actively engage in the creation of RFPs and RFIs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- 7 + years prior experience managing a Diligence Services / RFP or Client Services team for an investment management company;
- Experience in institutional investor asset management; field marketing experience a plus;
- Exceptional writing, messaging and/or editing skills;
- Articulate communicator; ability to explain complex concepts to a wide range of audiences;
- Excellent understanding of investment strategies found at Oaktree;
- Experience in human resource planning (staff planning, recruiting, onboarding, cross-training, supervision and performance management);
- Experience completing RFPs/RFIs for an investment management company;
- Proven ability to prioritize high volumes of work across a team; and
- Experience managing AUM reporting / analytics for an investment management company preferred.

EDUCATION:
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• MBA and/or JD a plus.
