Position Description:
Morgan Stanley seeks a strong VP for its Credit Risk Management Department (CRM). CRM acts as the guardian of the Firm's capital in these and other risk transactions. Credit reviews and approves all Firm counterparties for risk transactions and approves and monitors the exposure generated by bank/bridge loans and trading activity, in order to protect the Firm from borrower default and/or counterparty risk. Department's Role at Morgan Stanley is active in corporate lending, derivatives trading and other securities lending activities.
Job Specific Attributes:
• Manage a portfolio of counterparties in the financial institutions sectors. Primary duties include: perform financial and credit analyses to establish credit-specific ratings; author credit reviews and present credit opinions to the internal credit committee; review, diligence and approve new trade requests recommending structures to minimize risk; track and monitor counterparty compliance in accordance with contractual terms and Firm limits; monitor public ratings of counterparties, notifying business units as appropriate; keep current on industry trends and rating agency criteria.
• Manage the approval process for new loans and renewal of existing facilities; monitor ongoing compliance with covenants for existing loans; present credit analysis for loan approvals to internal commitment committee; author formal annual credit reviews for all counterparties in the portfolio; more frequent reviews will be required for impaired credits.
insurance credit analysis experience specifically (other financial institutions credit experience a plus) and the ability to analyze risk-based transactions, both loans and traded products.
Skills Required:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; quantitative orientation; ability to manage dynamic priorities; finance and/or accounting degree.
• Minimum of five years experience in insurance credit analysis experience (other financial institutions credit experience a plus) and the ability to analyze risk-based transactions, both loans and traded products.
• Preference for strong accounting/finance education and skills as well as knowledge of loan and capital markets products.
