Vice President, E-Trading Desk Strategist, Bulge Bracket Investment Bank, New York, NY recruitment

Our client - a bulge bracket investment bank - is seeking a Senior Desk Strategist, E-Trading, to join its strats / global macro investment banking group.

Desk Strategists work collaboratively on value added trading stategies, risk analysis and affiliated tasks to support the bank's global macro banking efforts. Desk Strategists are responsible for the creation of product valuation models, trading strategy analytics, and risk and valuation tools used by bankers and fellow members of the desk strategist team to better identify market / trading opportunities.

Salient attributes or skills associated with this position are as follows:

i) An understanding of quantitative trading strategies and advanced risk analytics, especially involving Automated / Electronic trading

ii) Strong hands on technology skills (C, C++ programming as well as other tools such as VBA, Matlab, SQL, R, and others)

iii) An ability and talent in discussing and marketing ideas.

iv) Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

v) Market inquisitiveness – a natural desire to contribute to the firm’s commercial relevancy – through the development of financial analytics and the application of analytical skills to identify opportunities and manage trading position risk.

vi) The candidate must have the ability to combine various disciplines and sub-disciplines – mathematical finance, empirical statistics, and market expertise to identify revenue enhancing / or risk mitigating opportunities.

vii) Experience in designing and implementing analytics which have gained widespread use on one or more trading desks is extremely desirable.

viii) Strong independent problem solving skills.

Other: A college degree is required and a degree from an elite school is a plus. An advanced degree in a quantitative field is also required (such as a PhD or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Finance, Mathematics or Statistics). A graduate degree from a top ranked school is a plus.
