Job Overview:
JOB PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the First Vice-President, Global Fixed Income, the incumbent is responsible for the management of the below investment grade (high yield) portfolios which includes the formulation and implementation of strategy, with particular emphasis on country, industry, company and rating allocations. The incumbent will be a contributing member of the high yield Credit Committee and work closely with the VP Global Fixed Income, Credit and the team of credit analysts. The incumbent will also participate in marketing and client servicing activities for retail and institutional clients.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Direct investment for 3 mandates totaling $800 million in high yield assets and contribute to the strategy on an additional $900 million in high yield investments
• Accountable for ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory issues
• Client servicing responsibilities include developing investment policy statements, presenting at client meetings to review policy and performance relative to objectives and performance criteria, and writing market commentaries
• Contribute to asset growth by marketing products to consultants and prospects
• Establish and maintain good relationships with the investment dealer community
• Contribute to the CGAM fixed income investment process including the high yield Credit Committee as well as other strategy and research

JOB COMPLEXITIES AND CHALLENGES

• Establish strategies and manage high yield portfolios according to client policy objectives and constraints
• Implement high yield strategies across all client mandates given market conditions and CGAM procedures
• Differentiate and monitor necessary drivers for outperformance of industries and companies within the below investment grade corporate sector of the fixed income market
• Contribute to the decisions of the Credit Committee based on credit fundamentals

Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Strong understanding of debt/fixed income analysis, macro and micro economic analysis, strong financial and accounting skills capital markets knowledge and trading experience
• Minimum 10 years experience in fixed income markets emphasizing high yield research, analysis, and portfolio management
• Investment knowledge and analytical skills gained through an undergraduate degree, graduate degree or related professional designation preferred
• CFA and CFA membership in good standing required
• Proficient in computer modeling and Bloomberg AIM experience preferred
• Autonomy, initiative, ability to perform under pressure on a trading desk, and ability to prioritize and multi task responsibilities
• Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role operates within an open trading desk environment. Surrounding noise and distractions at all times. Frequent attendance at company and industry presentations, some of which may involve travel.
