Vice President, Global Major Projects Job in Louisville 40201, Kentucky US
As a member of the Invensys Rail Executive Team, this role is responsible for providing executive leadership and commercial support for global major project delivery, including risk management and governance. Develops the monitoring framework to ensure alignment to the Standard Delivery Model designed to enhance business performance of major projects. Responsible for the application of a commercial and contract operating system designed to effectively manage risk.
Major projects are defined as projects with:
- greater than £50M
- consortium/joint venture/UTEs arrangements, joint and several liabilities
- special technologies and solutions; new technology with significant RD component
- high level of risk profile (new countries, markets, special cash/profit)
Principal Accountabilities:
- Review and monitor all major projects to provide consistency, oversight and expertise
- Provide advice and counsel on project management, planning, discipline and governance
- Ensure alignment with Standard Delivery Model
- Monitor and analyze complete project delivery phase to include design, supply chain, manufacturing, subcontracting, installation, testing and commissioning
- Review all aspects of project management including commercial and contract management, client engagement and satisfaction, financial performance, resourcing requirements and KPI measurements
- Manage GEL (escalation) process
- Active involvement in Rail Project Management capability assessments and development programs
- Coordination of peer reviews
- Independent evaluation of Rail major projects to the Invensys GOC and Board of Directors, including proposal for recommendations and actions
Measures for Success:
- Develop and lead process for major project reviews to include identification of potential risks and abatements
- Effective application of the Standard Delivery Model to all major projects
- Effective high level monitoring of major projects indicating an early warning of potential project problems. Develop effective proposals to recommend solutions and actions.
- Effective GEL escalation process application.
- Build strong working relationships with the Rail leadership team

Person specification:
- Experienced commercial professional with outstanding track record in demanding delivery environments
- Minimum 10 years global project execution experience, or equivalent
- Background in rail signalling industry preferred; related experience from power, civil engineering or construction sectors acceptable
- Project manager, project director or operations manager experience running high value projects
- Business development or sales experience preferred
- Possesses strong negotiation skills and ability to manage relationships with wide range of internal and external stakeholders
