Commercial Bank International Banking Group is a dedicated team of banking professionals providing international expertise, consultative advice and financial solutions to US domestic clients prospects. International Banking Group supplements US marketing efforts with the firm's international capabilities, allowing Commercial Banking to bring customers global solutions to meet their financial needs. We provide banking services to international subsidiaries and affiliates of Corporate Client Banking and Middle Market clients in APAC region, EMEA region, Canada and Latin America. Commercial Bank International Banking - Hong Kong/North Asia team provides client coverage for subsidiaries of US Commercial Bank clients located in Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan. The team works closely with US origination teams (International Coverage Officers ICOs) and US Bankers (Mid-Corporate Bankers Middle Market Bankers) as well as Product Specialists from across the firm to identify and support the banking needs and requirements of CB clients.
Job functions/responsibilities:
- Work with clients to understand their credit requirements and to recommend appropriate structures for their financing requirements. Analyze financial/ business information, statements and reports to carry out objective and subjective assessment of the requirements
- Identify and assess credit transactions and documentation requirements (including working capital loan facilities, trade finance facilities, term loans, FX derivative lines, etc). Work with US underwriters and local credit committees to obtain credit approvals for new transactions, enhancements to existing lines as well as annual reviews. Local approvals entail preparation presentation of credit memos which include an assessment of the credit worthiness of the obligor, recommending the appropriate credit structure and ensuring that local business and regulatory considerations are taken into account. Work with JPM legal outside counsel on term sheets legal agreements. Negotiate loan documentation and close credit transactions.
- Provide expertise on local regulatory and compliance requirements to Bankers, US Underwriters and clients covering the region.
- Provide expertise on the taking of collateral and providing a secured facility- including documentation and on-going monitoring
- Maintain close relationships with credit clients, discuss their financial and operating performance, and appraise the developments in the industry that they operate in. As part of the credit due diligence, assess if the credit facilities continue to be structured appropriately including monitoring of end-use of proceeds to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Work with internal stakeholders which includes compliance, mid and back office support and product teams to ensure smooth and timely execution. Liaise with auditors and regulators on all matters related to the CB credit portfolio.
- Independently manage the CB credit portfolio which includes tracking of expiring facilities, utilizations, ensure timely renewals, monitor risk rating changes etc.
Skills
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 8 years working experience with financial institutions in a credit role involving credit assessment, presentation and execution of credit related deals. Good knowledge and experience in handling credit for multinational clients. Experience as a relationship banker is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of Hong Kong financial services markets and regulations. Good knowledge of the Korea/Taiwan financial markets is a plus.
- Understanding of secured/ unsecured lending as well as credit agreements/ documentation process.
- Good credit analysis and presentation skills.
- Good knowledge of corporate banking products including debt products, working capital finance, cash management products, trade finance, FX derivatives products, bilateral and syndicated loans.
- Good documentation and negotiation skills in structuring secured and unsecured lending
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An independent self starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, analytical, result oriented.
- A team player and the ability to work well across a broad diverse range of internal and external clients.
- Good organizational time management skills. Flexibility to co-ordinate prioritise a number of transactions matters at any one time.
Educational Qualifications:
MBA or Chartered Account, with basic degree in any of the following: Science, Economics, Accounting/Finance, Engineering.
