We are seeking candidates for the position of Vice President – Chief Medical Officer who will provide strategic and operational leadership resulting in effective: governance, quality assurance, peer review, utilization review, infection control, credentialing/re-credentialing, and compliance with CMS, Arizona Department of Health and other accreditation bodies. Position reports to the CEO and serves as a liaison between the hospital Executive Team and the medical staff. VPMA attends and represents YRMC on the Board Quality of Service committee, chairs YRMC Infection Prevention Control committee, as well as representing the hospital at Medical Executive Committee and all department meetings of the Medical Staff. Will also provide direct administrative leadership for the following established departments - – Medical Staff Services, Quality Services, Security and Safety as well as developing the Physician Residency Program. The successful candidate will assume a facilitative role to assist the Chief of Medical Staff, its officers, and department chairpersons in carrying out their responsibilities. The position also includes responsibility for enhancement of relationships within the medical community. The VPMA will assist the CEO in developing goals for the delivery of quality medical care in the most economic and professional way. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and experienced team player, able to quickly establish credibility with physicians and other medical professionals, have strong strategic planning and visionary leadership to manage change, develop relationships with medical staff, and a creative person who can continually improve the quality of the patient experience and their access to all clinical services, both inpatient and outpatient. It is essential for the incumbent to be a strong collaborator with a focus on win-win relationships.


Requirements: 

A MD or DO, with a Master’s Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred. Additionally, five or more years of related leadership experience with a proven leadership credibility with medical staff, preferably in a complex multi-service line matrix-structured organization, as well as private practice experience.
