Position Description:
Morgan Stanley Co. LLC seeks Vice President, Municipal Credit Desk Strategist in New York, NY to create value added cross-asset trading strategy by identifying market opportunities in credit/interest rate/municipal securities and derivatives market integrated across credit/interest rate/municipal curves and credit/interest rate/municipal volatility. Manage and maintain the model standard, working with Model Review Department to comply with regulations, certify pricing models, and maintain proper model control with relevant model documentation and model behavior test. Establish the model parameter marking policy and validate markings by analyzing internal/external pricing sources, working with Valuation Review Group to review the compliance of the policy. Develop new products offerings for clients and provide municipal derivatives trading desk with pricing model and risk management analytics for new products. Work with internal/external legal team to make a trade confirmation template to ensure the consistency between model and documentation. Design and structure trades for clients and traders, combining products across interest rate, municipal, credit and commodity asset space. Provide analytics for the customized structures and proper hedging strategies for portfolio. Lead projects for existing model enhancement and new model development by planning deliverables and delivery schedule and managing the process. Develop and implement credit models for municipal securities (taxable and tax-exempt), municipal indexes, and derivatives products and combine them with interest rate model. Monitor and analyze effectiveness of current valuation and risk models. Develop risk analysis algorithms and implement risk management tools including real time risk analysis, overnight batch analysis, stress test, and scenario test for risk managing trading desk's portfolio. Implement pricing and trading tools using C++, Java, Visual Basic and integrate with existing trading systems. Provide pricing support for daily trading of interest rate derivatives and municipal derivatives pricing. Perform data mining/empirical market research and conduct econometric and statistical analysis for the calibration and estimation of the model parameters, utilizing tools and packages such as R, SAS, Matlab.

Skills Required:
Ph.D. degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative field or equivalent, and two (2) years of experience developing and implementing mathematical market models to support valuation, risk management, identification of revenue generating opportunities, and trading strategy for a municipal derivatives trading desk on behalf of a global financial services institution. Prior experience must include supporting modeling and trading for municipal securities (taxable and tax-exempt) and municipal indexes; performing empirical market research; performing interest rate derivatives modeling and pricing; designing and implementing analytics; designing and structuring trades for clients and traders; and utilizing C++ and statistical packages including R, Matlab and SAS.
