Job Description:
The Vice President of Business Development will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Vice President of Sales for the Company. This VP position requires a dynamic and experienced leader who will be charged with building and developing a team of high-performance Sales Associates and Executives. This will entail oversight from initial prospect contact through the entire sales life cycle in order to secure new strategic accounts with key corporations and law firms and to fuel company-wide lead generation and sales for LLM's various products and services. This individual will hire, manage, coach and support the activities of the Sales Associates and Executives and will also be responsible for hitting specific activity metrics and performance targets. This individual will work closely with sales leadership and marketing to support specific lead generation initiatives, and will ensure that program goals are effectively translated into telemarketing campaigns that achieve those goals.
This individual will have a proven track record of planning, executing, measuring, and refining effective telemarketing and direct sales programs that support the goals of the sales organization. This position also includes hands-on management of competitive marketing research to be utilized in strategic lead generation and highly visible marketing campaigns.
Position Duties:
- Recruit, train, and retain future sales team members
- Directly manage a team of experienced sales professionals to achieve and surpass individual and department revenue goals
- Coach, mentor, provide feedback and improve the skill set and productivity of the team
- Identify, innovate and execute business ideas to improve achievement of department goals and targets
- Initiate, manage, take ownership of strategic dialogues with other teams, including Marketing, Technology, Client Services, among others
- Together with LLM’s marketing team identify new potential targets and formulate strategies to penetrate them
- Develop and implement tactical plan for sales organization to achieve strategic goals
- Involvement in appraisal and career planning of employees
- Ensure relationships with key decision-makers for accounts that will provide new business are continuously developed and relationships are strengthened and grown
- Maintain up-to-date competitive analysis and evaluate LLM’s standing.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum 5 – 10 years of relevant professional experience in high performance sales environments; software industry experience highly preferred
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of proven experience managing, motivating and developing successful sales teams
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines to include cold calling, consultative selling, product demonstrations, closing contracts, operation/process flow, and product function
- Proven ability to identify, target and secure key business relationships
- Proven success in relationship based direct sales and marketing operations and best practices
- Ability to identify and define key sales metrics, measure sales process, and create goals that drive growth
- Ability to assess and define optimal sales organizational structure and selling approach
- Ability to evaluate and implement a sales compensation structure that drives growth
- Ability to contribute to the senior management team by participating in planning, resources allocation, and driving growth
- Demonstrated successful track record in career experience of performing high call volume and corresponding talk time, excelling at developing relationships over the phone, consistently achieving or beating quota for individual sales performance
- Comfortable using online software sales automation products such as Salesforce.com and web collaboration tools like WebEx
- Must be articulate, organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-changing entrepreneurial environment
- Intimate knowledge of and involvement in the legal industry a strong plus
