Summary

The Vice President, Human Resources is responsible for the development and execution of a Human resources strategy and plan in support of the Human Capital needs of AmTrust Financial. This will include further refining initiatives already in place while also developing and implementing programs that attract the best people, build on their skills, and enable them to reach their maximum potential.   The VP, HR is a key member of the management team and will be based in Cleveland, Ohio.  This leadership role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer of the Company (located in NY) and reports, on a dotted line, to the COO (located in Cleveland).

Key Responsibilities

The Vice President, Human Resources is responsible for building a flexible, high performance Human Resources organization that sets an enviable customer service standard while leading, designing, planning, directing, communicating, and evaluating all elements of the human resources function. This individual will act as a business partner, internal consultant and advisor to the Company’s management team and employee work force, determining and implementing strategic and tactical human resource initiatives. The scope of responsibility extends to all phases of human resources including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, organizational design and effectiveness, training and development, recruitment and workforce planning.

Specific Responsibilities

·        Setting the strategic direction for Human Resources by designing, implementing, and administering comprehensive programs designed to meet both current and future needs of the Company.

·        Consulting with the management team, business unit leadership, and service line leadership on issues regarding HR policies, regulatory compliance, workforce development, as well as employee relations, organizational development and succession planning; establish and maintain strong working relationship with key personnel.

·        Assessing HR organizational structure, resource deployment, and staff performance and realigning as necessary to create a best-in-class HR service organization – one that delivers excellence in service to employees, while ensuring that human resources are cost-effectively deployed.

·        Ensuring that HR policies and benefits information are communicated effectively and promptly to employees while ensuring that the HR team collaborates and communicates to promote synergy toward outstanding client service; providing an open environment for communication with the HR department and all staff across the system.

·        Oversee the continuing development and implementation of the HRMS

·        Ensuring performance management programs and procedures, including performance appraisals and performance improvement plans are adhered to..

·        Implementing and executing employee relations programs / practices that create a positive organizational culture and enable management effectiveness that adhere to the VSP corporate guidelines.

·        Managing employee complaint procedures and employee welfare programs.

·        Anticipating labor patterns and growing needs to create and deliver recruitment and retention solutions on time; ensuring that recruitment and retention initiatives remain current and effective.

·        Overseeing, implementation of salary administration including salary surveys and compensation planning and bonus/incentive programs in adherence with corporate guidelines.

·        Monitoring Human Resources metrics for the company at all times including turnover, critical hiring, personnel problems, and competitive markets.

·        Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations including EEO, Affirmative Action, ADA, FMLA, Vets-100, Immigration, Sexual Harassment, etc.

·        Mentoring and developing subordinates and other future HR leaders and inspiring a vision of excellence and enthusiasm throughout the organization.
