JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the SVP, Financial Products, s/he will be responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the Insurance Solutions (IS) and Warranty Solutions (WS) product development and operations to meet the financial objectives for these lines of business.
S/he will also accurately and comprehensively gauge current operating performance and risks of the business and will be responsible for reporting financial and other key metric progress, evaluating and informing senior management of financial implications of IS/WS business strategies. S/he will be alert to and evaluate the external climate anticipating business impacts from emerging regulatory and economic trends. S/he works in close partnership with Zale Corporation’s Controller and regulatory accounting group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Develops an overall strategic vision for the products and operation of IS/WS functions that aligns with overall corporate objectives
• Effectively implements, integrates, and executes the IS/WS strategic and tactical plan initiatives
• Ensures the IS/WS operation’s functional areas are meeting all objectives pertaining to quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, customer service, budget, and project management
• Monitors and reviews the valuation of liabilities and actuarial financial reports which support both IS/WS lines of business
• Advises senior leadership on regulatory and valuation issues and/or concerns
• Identifies financial and enterprise (i.e. operational, actuarial, investment) risks and develops mitigation plans
• Responsible for final product review and presentation from a long term financial and risk management perspective working in partnership with the Heads of Corporate Planning, Accounting, and Treasury
• Coordinates the preparation of Financial and Operations performance reporting and communicates performance to Zale Corporation’s leadership team, the various Insurance and Warranty Company Boards of Directors, Regulators, Rating Agencies, Zale’s Business Partners/Intermediaries, and the employees of the IS/WS line of business. Focus on performance to goals and identifies areas for improvement and concern
• Represents Zale Corporation Insurance and warranty businesses externally on key financial and regulatory issues impacting the business
• Coordinates governance functions and actions for the IS/WS business which include SOX implementation and compliance activities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Zale Corporation guidelines, policies and procedures and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Directly supervises the functional leaders of the Insurance and Warranty Solutions teams to include executive operational responsibility for the company’s captive Insurance and Warranty companies.
• Responsible for building organizational capability within the IS/WS function, ensuring that top talent is hired, retained and developed
QUALIFICATIONS

• In-depth understanding of the key drivers that impact operating performance and related risks of the IS/WS businesses
• Comprehensive understanding of Taxation, Statutory Results, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley 404, and compliance requirements of other financial statutes
• Experience advising senior leadership on regulatory, accounting and valuation issues and/or concerns
• Product Development / Market Development experience preferred
• Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills with internal clients (i.e. executive management, peers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches to driving client-focused solutions which also benefited the company’s top and bottom lines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree, MBA or Advanced Degree preferred
· 15+ years of progressively more responsible experiences in leading the financial and/or operations for a significant insurance business unit. Ideally, this experience would be gained in insurance and / or warranty solutions based businesses
· Product Development / Market Development experience preferred
