Vice President, Project Finance North America recruitment
Responsibilities
As a Vice President, the job duties will be to work at the direction of the Head of PFNA and/or the Head of the Thermal Power and Oil Gas Execution Team (part of PFNA) in respect of the following:
- Lead analysis of potential transactions, including detailed modeling and in-depth review of project documents, and communicate clearly and concisely summaries of the same to internal constituents
- Prepare initial drafts of proposals and other marketing materials
- Present capabilities of the Bank to current and prospective clients to secure new or incremental business opportunities
- Interact with Bank colleagues in New York, Spain and elsewhere to coordinate various elements of internal and external presentations regarding prospective transactions
- Prepare initial drafts of reports for the internal credit committee (New York and Madrid) and new business committee on the different transactions under evaluation and work with them in order to permit a good understanding of the transaction proposed
- Review and negotiate, with senior support as needed, term sheets and financing documentation
- Conduct thorough and detailed due diligence on the transactions, and summarize the same for internal constituents
- Interface with lawyers, clients, consultants and others to complete due diligence
- Work closely with junior bankers to help them increase their skill set to be better able to leverage group’s abilities
- Other tasks as directed
This position is considered a critical mid-level role within the department. The new VP will be expected to represent BBVA in negotiating transactions with clients and other lenders, and in providing financial advisory services to clients. Transactions can be extremely complicated and as a result, take a number of months to finalize. Therefore, the candidate will be responsible for following several deals at various stages at all times, not only leading transactions, but marketing for new opportunities and supporting other team members who are leads on other deals to assist in meeting financial goals of Project Finance North America team.
Qualifications
- At least 4-7 years of prior project finance experience (lending and/or financial advisory)
- Project finance experience obtained from on the job experience structuring and executing transactions, preferably in the thermal power and oil gas space
- Demonstrated ability to lead manage execution of complex project financings
- Outstanding analytic abilities
- Ability to apply financial and legal knowledge in order to prepare structures for clients and successfully achieve mandates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely
- Demonstrated proactivity
- Strong computer and financial modeling skills
- Fluent in English
- Spanish desirable but not essential
- Graduate degree preferred
