Background

 

The firm received authorisation from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to act as a Shariah-compliant wholesale investment bank in the United Kingdom in April 2008.

 

The company will undertake all of its activities in accordance with Shariah principles and will focus on business opportunities throughout the Gulf region, Europe and North America, as well as targeted countries in the emerging markets and South-East Asia.  It is a subsidiary of one of the leading and most respected investment companies in Kuwait, and as part of its activities it will provide products and services complementary to the parent company’s offering.

 

Role

 

To distribute Shariah compliant investment products to a local and international investor base. Product profile includes Real Estate, Structured Finance, Capital Markets and Corporate Finance.

 

Responsibilities

 

·         To work with the Wealth Management Division on distribution and placement activities to deliver against agreed sales targets by growing new business volume and revenue and enhancing cross-selling opportunities;

·         Responsible for client development in GCC

·         Maintain effective and efficient Client Relationships at all times and maintain an up-to-date client profiling system

·         To work with the Executive Management and Board to ensure delivery of stated objectives and to provide new ideas and solutions that will enhance the reputation, standing and bottom-line performance of the firm

·         To meet and exceed target objectives and to manage team and own costs diligently

·         Liaise efficiently with all internal and external contacts;

·         To build meaningful and lasting customer relationships based upon an in depth understanding of client need and the ability to consistently anticipate and meet that need.

 

 

Person specification

 

·         Degree educated or equivalent

·         IMC Level 4, RDR compliant

·         3 to 7 years experience of selling financial products and services

·         Demonstrable track record in sales at institutional, Family Office and regulated investment intermediary level

·         Able to work in a small team

·         Strong selling and negotiation skills

·         Knowledge of financial products and services

·         Superb communication skills, including excellent presentation skills

·         Professionalism, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure

·         Knowledge of Islamic investment products

·         Formal sales process training

·         English speaking plus other language skills beneficial, but not essential

·         Interest in Islamic finance
