Department overview

Markit develops and manages products globally and this portfolio of products has grown quickly over the last few years. In light of the company’s rapid growth, a central release management function is now required to become an integral part of the Global Infrastructure group and help manage the rollout of large complex projects.

Position summary

Markit is seeking an experienced release and environment manager to refine and implement a dedicated function to manage builds, releases and environments for key product platforms. The foundations for this have already been laid with the introduction of formal release management for Markit Products.

The role will require the definition and management of release governance to ensure all the releases for all Markit Products satisfy a minimum criteria. Further to this the successful candidate will also be directly responsible for release management and coordination on the weekends of the Warehouse platform (6 releases a year) and other projects as needed basis.

This successful candidate will work closely with Infrastructure, Development and Testing teams globally to manage and enforce quality throughout the SDLC, and maintain a common approach to service delivery and management. The aim will be to establish consistency and good practice in this process area and integrate it into the current ITIL based processes that are in place today.

The position requires excellent communication and organisation skills alongside a good technical knowledge of build and release tools (e.g. Bamboo, Ant, Maven, and Hudson), experience of relevant processes that integrate with release management, standards and frameworks (e.g. BS15000 or ITIL).

This person will liaise with senior stakeholders, and ultimately help improve quality and efficiency of project delivery as well as help to minimize delivery risk across Markit.
