The Company
Our Client, a private equity fund is looking for a VP, Risk Management.

The Role
The role is responsible for enhancing the structured approach to risk management across all activities of the firm. This would include ensuring that the risks faced by the business at group, fund and portfolio company levels are identified, assessed, managed, monitored and reported on in a systematic manner. He is expected to provide inputs to the Managing Partner and make recommendations in this regard.

Review and enhance on an ongoing basis the firms' risk management framework covering strategic, external, regulatory, financial and operational risks. As part of the process, work with the relevant constituents of the firm to ensure the development, enhancement and review, when appropriate, of policies and processes to mitigate these risks and monitor disciplined adherence.

Take the lead in ensuring the development of robust business continuity plans by the relevant functional teams including its processes relating to crisis management and disaster recovery and in conducting a periodic review thereof. Provide inputs / advice to the MP and flag risks, exposures and vulnerabilities requiring his attention.

Support the MP in providing periodic reports to the Group CEO and the Group Risk and Compliance Committee on risk management issues. Support the Internal Audit team in developing its risk-based audit plans covering the group, its funds and their portfolio companies. In respect of risks that are capable of being economically laid off through insurance or hedging, review periodically the level of cover and pricing of such cover and advise the MP in this regard.

Your Profile
To succeed in this role, you should have Good knowledge and experience of the Asset Management / Private Equity industry. Good understanding of emerging markets generally and South East Asia in particular. Relevant post-graduate qualification with at least 10 years of broad industry experience bringing with it. A commercial mindset that will effectively reconcile risk management with business objectives and also an ability to raise sensitive and contentious issues and advise / challenge in a pragmatic manner that is accepted, valued and sought out.

Intimate understanding of investment management processes - both pre- and post-acquisition, regulatory requirements and risk management best practice. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills combined with strong interpersonal, team-working people management and influencing capabilities. Outstanding communication skills - both verbal and written. A person with a high degree of reliability and integrity.
