KEY OBJECTIVES
Develops and executes business unit strategy; product line responsibilities includes ACE Commercial Risk Services' Package/ Businessowner Property, General Liability, and Umbrella.
Creates, monitors and communicates underwriting directives for the product while ensuring a consistent approach and delivery across the product.
As the senior underwriting officer, this position will work with various support centers of ACE Commercial Risk Services to coordinate their efforts toward achieving profitable underwriting results for the business unit. These units include Operations, Claims, Actuarial, Legal, Loss Control, Compliance, Corporate Underwriting, Programs and all other ACE underwriting units.
MAJOR DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES
Position will be responsible for the following activities:
Provides the subject matter technical underwriting expertise for the small commercial property and general liability product.
Understands and manages all aspects of the forms and filing process for this product group.
Defines and streamlines underwriting policy – assists with the development, automation and communication of underwriting policies and procedures for business unit. Develops industry specific data to facilitate the decision making process.
Manages and monitors internal and external (i.e. MGA’s) audit process for business unit. Ensures business unit is operating within established underwriting processes, procedures, etc.
Executes product development strategy to achieve financial results in the areas of profit, growth and expense. Disseminates key business metrics to staff.
Participates in the product strategy and ensures execution of the strategic plan as indicated by corporate strategy/executives.
Proactively manages and monitors results and key performance indicators to achieve desired results. Identifies issues and develops plan of action to minimize impact to business unit.
In collaboration with the ACE Commercial Risk Services executive leadership, manages the deployment of business unit resources.
Responsible for the hiring and the development of business unit staff (i.e. Underwriters).
Manages the performance management process for the business unit.
Participates in the execution of the distribution strategy for this product.
In collaboration with staff, visits key customers as dictated by business needs. Acts as a customer advocate; listens and develops solutions as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 10 Years Underwriting Experience
• High Level of Product Knowledge including:
Exposure Analysis
Form Coverages
Rating Principles and Mechanics
Basic Legal Regulatory Requirements
• Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Strong Leadership Skills
