VOIP Network Engineer Job in Rochester, New York US

Works as a technical leader and with technical teams on complex Cisco technology based IP Telephony infrastructure and IP/WAN network configurations, changes, implementations, designs. Executes on projects, network change activities and technical problem resolution. Consults on complex network designs and technical engineering solutions for either internal products or customer solutions, collects information from customers, account teams, and Engineering group that is specific to the network issue for purposes of designing network solutions. Mentors and assists junior engineers for this responsibility as well. Provides leadership and guidance in the research and evaluation of communications technologies and products. Delivers complex network designs and solutions that are custom in nature, either by self or collaborating with other engineers. Researches and documents complex solutions and delivers them with poise to Verizon Business' strategic customers. Delivers network diagrams and documentation.

Requires a BS degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology) or Equivalent and a minimum of 7 years experience in technology disciplines. Thorough Cisco knowledge with IP Telephony network architecture and design disciplines, operational support familiarity, previous and current extensive hands-on implementation, thorough configuration knowledge and capabilities for all platform levels. Very Strong customer interfacing background, as well as superior oral and written communication skills. Extensive technical writing skills are a requirement. Work closely with technical teams, program and sales teams on collaboration in meeting the technology requirements for the customer.  Disciplined and oriented in practice of and adherence to process and procedures. Previous engineering support for Data and Call Center migrations/integrations/implementations both in a legacy and next generation environment.
Comprehensive, hands-on logical implementation and technical support in IP Telephony Network Engineering.

Networking:
• Routing Switching protocols for LAN (Modular Network Design, Spanning Tree, VLANs, Trunking, Link Aggregation, QoS, PoE, LAN Security best Practices, etc.)
• WAN (MPLS, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, Policy Routing, Route Redistribution, Multicast, NAT, PAT, WAN Optimization)

Platforms: 
Cisco Routers Switches
Cisco Unified Communications Manager platform (4.x, 5.x, 6.x, CUCMBE, CCME)
Cisco Unity platforms (Unity, Unity Connection, Unity Express).

VoIP:    
SIP, H.323, MGCP, Session Border Controllers, Voice Security Principles, Traffic Engineering, and Feature Servers (Class 5), Contact Center Routing IVR technologies in High Availability setups.

Higher Level Network Certifications (CCNA/CCNP or equivalent) Cisco CCIE Voice and Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) Certifications a plus.
