The Operations group is a collection of sub-departments that is responsible for everything after an account is opened or a trade occurs. The Operations group's responsibilities include opening customer accounts, account maintenance, receiving and delivering money and securities to customers, and much more.
The Reorganization Department processings all mandatory corporate actions and voluntary offerings including exercising employee stock options.
The Voluntary Offerings Specialist performs a variety of duties relating to voluntary offerings including but not limited to tenders, exchanges, rights warrants exercises, elections, conversions, UIT rollovers and optional dividends.
- Review material from various sources and notify all correspondents/branches of the offer details including the cutoff date and expiration date
- Accept all instructions and physical securities and submit them through DTC or any other applicable depository where the securities are held, in a timely manner
- Accept and initiate 180 fail letters between Southwest Securities and other broker/dealers relating to the offers
- Adjust account positions on the offers
- Balance the funds and positions in the suspense and reconciliation accounts
- BS/BA in business, finance or accounting or 2-3 years financial services experience or a combination of both
- Prior Corporate Actions experience is required
- Ability to manage a variety of offers at one time, while comprehending complex functions/procedures and disseminating that information in a clear and precise manner to others
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accurate and complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to prepare and maintain confidential records and reports
- Self-motivated team player and individual contributor
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
