VP

One of the most prestigious banks in London has created a new Compliance Business Management team to focus on improving communication, driving change and enhancing the compliance service across their Investment Banking, Asset Management Wealth business divisions.

Joining the team at VP level, you will work closely with the EMEA Head of Compliance and report directly to the Head of Business Management Compliance Infrastructure. Your role will be to support both.

As part of the initial team of three, you will be involved in improving new existing processes and controls to ensure the effective and efficient running of the various Management functions across the compliance group including: Business Management, Planning and Analysis, Program Management and Platform Strategy. In addition the team will be responsible for ensuring that there is an adequate control environment across the compliance function.

The role will require a close working relationship with the EMEA and global teams in coordinating and implementing the compliance agenda under the tight time frames that govern the deliverables. The role presents an excellent opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders and gain a detailed insight into the management of a regional Compliance function for a global and complex corporate and investment bank.

Key Responsibilities:

•Take independent ownership for specific initiates and work streams of projects that impact the department and be responsible for driving initiatives to successful completion, with the support of the Head of Business Management
• Support the implementation and maintenance of strong governance structures for executing the business agenda
• Collaborate with other control functions and escalate issues as appropriate and required
• Support the Head of Business Management and the Head of Compliance effect the Department’s business strategy and priorities
• Undertake analysis and MIS reporting
• Support delivery of business initiatives and projects
• Interact and collaborate with internal support groups (Fin, Tech, Ops, Legal, HR) to achieve business priorities
• Prepare reports for the Head of Compliance including periodic reporting/issue escalation to group, committees and boards
• Assist in the development, rollout and maintenance of meaningful metrics on Compliance performance
• Support business resiliency contingency and crisis management coordination across regional Department
• Assist in the development and enhancement of processes to deliver highly effective services through best practices and training

Qualifications

The successful candidate for this position will be a team player who thrives on challenge. The individual will need to be proactive and action orientated with good analytical skills and a proven ability for problem solving. In addition they will demonstrate:

• Knowledge and awareness of the compliance competitive and regulatory landscape, with specific knowledge of EMEA specific issues
• Ability to assess complex organisational objectives, diagnose problems and prioritise efforts, taking ownership to solve them
• Be a self starter with the ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to make good and reasonable judgements under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to engage different audiences
• Demonstrated collaborative style and ability to partner with people across a diverse and global organisation
• Previous project /work stream management experience welcome
• Relationship building and influencing skills to engage stakeholders and deliver through others
• Compliance background a plus but not required; comfort and the ability to work in a complex Compliance department a must
