This position contributes to the success of the Bank by managing the planning and development of programming activities, applications systems, and requirements standards. Manages and oversees applications integration and/or development projects to ensure that programs are on time and within budget. Develops short- and long-term application system plans that are consistent with the needs and priorities of the business. Models and acts in accordance with Square 1 Bank's values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Application and Data Expertise – Setting direction for the business automation and integration needs of the Bank, developing and/or implementing the right software solutions for the Bank, and ensuring data can be leveraged effectively:
- Applies appropriate architectural discipline to the selection of software solutions
- Manages and enhances the delivery of solutions
- Establishes data management strategy and aligns with overall IT strategy
Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Bank.
Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Understand the business processes, priorities and roadmap.
- Ensures projects align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment.
- Assists in guiding IT strategy in support of the overall business strategy.
- Negotiates and manages small to medium vendor contracts; ensures successful resolution of issues.
- Provides project oversight on small- to medium-sized application projects and direct project management on large projects
Team Member Development Team Building - Providing team members with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Challenges and inspires team members to achieve business results.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Ensures team members adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Oversees training and development of team members directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve team, business and customer results.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of application design, development, database design, programming and systems analysis procedures.
- Experience with Agile development and delivery methods
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft’s .NET Framework
- Good working knowledge of one or more web programming languages and development tools, including but not limited to C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net, XML, and HTML.
- Good working knowledge of Visual Studio 2003 and up, and familiarity with Visual SourceSafe or other version control software
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft’s Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and later, including security and authentication.
- Good working knowledge of SQL Server 2005 and up, and SQL, including the ability to write complex queries and stored procedures
- Experience with operating systems (Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Server). Knowledge of Active Directory and the Windows security model.
- Familiarity with Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) 3.0 and Sharepoint Server 2007 and 2010.
- Strong communications, leadership, writing and editing skills needed to transfer information to individuals involved in development process.
