VP Business Analyst – PnL recruitment

My Client, a Tier 1 Investment Bank based in the City has a requirement for a Senior Business Analyst to join their Finance Change division.

The Finance Business Change  team has responsibility for the execution and delivery of a number of front-to-back desk-related and cross-functional transformation projects on behalf of Finance. Sponsors include; Front Office and Finance. The team has a mix of professional project managers, business analysts, process engineers and subject matter experts

The team has responsibility for delivering the Finance related aspects of multi-million pound projects for transforming the Front Office Trading infrastructure. This includes involvement with Front to Back projects relating to the upstream product programmes as well as specific support function programmes within Finance, Risk, Operations and Technology

Typical project responsibilities

• Project planning.

• Liaising with current users and other areas to determine current and future state; project requirements.

• Production of functional specifications.

• Defining accounting, PL and Risk configuration for systems.

• Preparing test plans and migration plans.

• Performing system testing.

• Co-ordinating user acceptance testing.

• Issue identification, tracking and resolution.

• Problem solving and developing innovative solutions.

• Liaising with Technology, Operations, Front Office and other departments.

• Liaising with Group departments outside of GBM.

• Post implementation reviews.

Specific to this Role

The Senior Business Analyst will work on initiatives supporting the Daily Global Actual PL reporting workstream. This person is accountable for documentation delivery for process mapping and Operating model changes as well as the documentation of business and functional requirements and necessary test plans and scenarios to support technology build and implementation.   The Senior BA will represent the team and coordinate requirements across Finance, including planning and execution of workshops, attending working groups on overlapping or dependent programmes and running regular working groups for the Programme. 

The work revolves around front to back current state analysis and documentation; issue prioritisation and root cause determination; future state detailed requirements. The role will progress as the project moves through multi-phase lifecycle from design, build, test and deployment. Remit of the role is to deliver on the necessary BA objectives and represent Finance interests across Front Office and support functions.

Specific business knowledge technical knowledge required:

• Experience of running requirements gathering workshops

• An understanding of the Financial Markets business

• Good understanding of trading, finance, risk and operational environments

• Project documentation skills including requirements, functional specifications and test planning

• Line management experience

• Microsoft Office skills

• Experience of working on global projects

• Experience of working on systems related projects within an investment banking arena.

• Qualified accountant preferred.

• Knowledge of Finance and Operations systems used within MIB would be advantageous
