VP – Business Controller – IB recruitment
This role is at the VP level, and will play a key part in the financial management of the banks most profitable trading business. Business Control forms the overarching, end-to-end control of the Financial Services functions including Risk and PL Production, Transaction Accounting and month-end close processes. Business Control roles play a critical part in developing and implementing the strategy to mitigate the financial risk caused by control issues across these functions for a given business.
The key function of the role is to manage the key controls that support the daily P(L) and risk production processes and the related closure of the firm's books at each month end for a particular desk within the Credit business - production is offshored, so this role has a review/explain focus, as well as looking at risk, and process improvements. You will develop relationships with product CFO's, front office and specialist finance (reg and accounting policy) to help you with the more technical aspects of the role.
Other areas of responsibility include: Providing oversight and management of balance sheet substantiation at a secondary account ownership level, establishing and implementing procedures to monitor, measure and improve product performance against SLAs, KPIs and KRIs, regularly measuring or receiving output of measurements to demonstrate areas of concern and compliance with standards, partnering with strategic CTB projects and initiatives whether these are regulatory or business driven.
Candidates will be degree educated and will be qualified accountants with previous experience in financial control within an investment bank. A good understanding of front to back accounting process's is essential, and whilst credit product experience would be useful, it is not essential and experience of any other traded product would be suitable.
