VP - Business Relationship Director - Claims
Act as most senior strategic partner with leaders in both IT and assigned business units (Personal Lines, Commercial Lines or Claims) for IT and business strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. Proactively provide insight into technology opportunities and risks to build competitive advantage and improve business efficiencies within assigned business area of expertise. Serves the lead role in enabling the business to achieve objectives through the effective use of technology. Responsible for leading the assigned unit in the successful implementation of all business plans and priorities.
Responsible for the management and direction setting for assigned business unit within the BSU including setting priorities, coordinating, and reporting of activities, projects, and regulatory changes. Assist Sr. VP of Business Services in direction setting for the entire unit.
Prepares expense budget for department and monitors and controls department's expenses, consistent with department objectives. Provides analysis of all expense plan budget variances. Identifies and implements needed actions.
Act as industry business vertical expert in technology solutions. Keeps abreast of the latest technology solutions, research, regulatory changes, and systems upgrades/enhancements in order to continuously improve existing BSU operations.
Develop and drives BSU strategy by promoting effective relationships with SBU, IT, and other departments to ensure effective understanding and applications of business requirements and priorities.
Develop and execute effective staffing and talent management strategies to optimize business process management. Evaluate and provide guidance to staff on an ongoing basis as to their abilities and duties and makes personnel recommendations to insure proper and optimum use of personnel. Ensures continuous professional development of staff.
Ensures staff keeps abreast of the latest industry research, technology, processes, regulatory changes, and systems upgrades/enhancements in order to continuously improve Selective's products and services with the Shared Insurance Services areas of responsibility.
Ensures team provides complete and accurate project specifications are created and provided to the IT Application Delivery teams to ensure effective creation of system changes, upgrades, fixes, etc.
Manage user acceptance testing to ensure all specifications have been followed and accurately completed.
Ensures adequate and effective support to agents, internal users, regions and departments on all BSU matters.
College degree preferred.
10+ years of recent insurer or underwriting, agency management, or rating system experience.
5+ years of supervisory/management experience.
Ability to set and execute strategic direction
Ability to plan and control projects and processes with proven problem solving ability.
Excellent PC automation knowledge skills.
Superior ability to build and maintain successful relationships with both internal partners and external customers.
Strong working knowledge of technological solutions for business unit
Strong working knowledge of effective business process solutions
