Core Purpose of the Role
Corporate Finance in New York specializes in the arrangement of commodity financing North American clients through the use of working capital borrowing base facilities, discounting receivables without recourse, inventory or repo financing and providing counterparty credit support for its customers’ customers. The team’s objective is to engage with the Bank’s corporate and financial institution relationships and develop first-call status for commodity finance opportunities.
Working with the existing London and New York team, the professional will build and manage client relationships and originate and execute transactions.
Accountabilities
–Setting and executing origination and customer strategy against targets;
–Originating, advising customers and executing transactions, based on full understanding of key clients and regular interaction with key clients, and taking into consideration all products available;
–Developing new products working with clients, London, coverage teams and product partners and internal stakeholders, including credit, finance, legal, operations, risk and senior management.
–Building customer relationships and reputation to enhance the profile and to achieve first call status with customers considering debt or leasing solutions;
–As the business grows, leading, supervising and coaching junior members of the team, including attracting and hiring new personnel and setting targets and standards for team members;
–Developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships to ensure that early engagement in transactions and business development occurs;
–Setting and delivering origination budget and delivering the business plan, working closely with colleagues and specialists to ensure products are appropriately priced and executed;
–Supporting learning of others through exchange of product and market knowledge;
–Ensuring compliance and a culture of compliance with all of policies, procedures and guidelines and all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements; and implementing actions where appropriate to protect business.
–Maintaining appropriate licenses and complying with ongoing continuing education requirements.
Qualifications
–Proven ability to originate and successfully close commodity finance transactions; ability to implement sales strategies and business plans while maximising efficiency and returns; plus ability to lead a team to deliver income targets within a cost and risk controlled environment;
–Experience with industry leaders; additional experience as a client would be highly desireable;
–Demonstrated track record of cross sell;
–Established strong relationships with North American customers;
–In depth knowledge of the sector and knowledge of general structured corporate finance and capital markets; plus proven technical expert within the sector able to consult to and develop the technical capabilities of a team;
–In depth and specialist knowledge of the accounting, compliance, regulatory and tax requirements affecting the business;
–Instinct for innovation with a highly proactive attitude in order to bring new solutions and value add to internal and external clients.
–Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels and across different audiences;
–Highly developed credit, documentation and risk skills;
–Orientation and demonstrable high levels of attention to detail, numeracy and accuracy;
–Recognised industry qualifications and professional memberships;
–Proven experience of working in a team and building a business; and
–Current Series 7, 63 and 79 registrations would be highly desirable.
