The Corporate Coverage team sits within the RBS International Banking Division and is primarily responsible for the origination of Banking products, which also includes broader cross-selling of Markets, TSO (liquidity management and trade finance) and other relevant products.
Job Description
RMs are responsible for identifying suitable corporate clients which are based/incorporated in Singapore (or where key business decisions are taken out of their Singapore office) which meet RBS’s KYC standards and which have business needs that RBS Markets and International Banking in particular can be competitive in meeting.
RMs will be assigned suitable corporate clients for which they will have primary coverage responsibility. Such responsibility includes:
- Developing relevant senior as well as broader business relationships throughout these client organizations to ensure regular, timely and insightful dialogue exists to ensure RBS has high-quality and competitive access to our clients
- Understanding to the maximum possible extent what current and longer-term client business needs are on a holistic basis across all relevant product areas
- Identifying relevant product partners within RBS’s global network and working closely with them to develop objective and best-in-class advice based on this deep understanding of overall client needs with a focus on generating win-win ideas which create maximum value for clients and represent best profitability outcomes for RBS
- Actively monitoring market and relevant industry conditions and developments to enable proactive idea generation
- Engaging proactively and in a timely manner with clients to provide RBS’s best advice/ideas and to compete with all available internal resources for the maximum share of the clients’ business
- If mandated, ensuring that all relevant internal approvals are obtained and negotiating with clients to agree mutually acceptable terms
- Working closely with relevant product partners to ensure that RBS provides the best possible execution and dynamically managing the client relationships to ensure the most satisfactory outcome from the clients’ perspective.
Most importantly, RMs are expected to be individually accountable for each of their client relationships and jointly accountable for delivering the Corporate Coverage team budget.
RMs are expected to work closely as a team to ensure maximum cross-fertilization of ideas and the most effective leveraging of individual client relationships whether a particular RM is responsible for that client or not.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant Banking experience.
- Experience with the coverage of Singapore companies in the large mid-cap sector essential.
- Possession of trade finance knowledge and skill set would be an advantage.
- Driven, self-motivated and independent individual who knows how to be a team player when required.
- Proficient in English and Mandarin language.
