VP-Engineering/CIO
My firm is working on a search for a VP Engineering for a blue-chip venture backed social media Internet start-up based in Scottsdale, AZ. The company has created a social media platform for the US armed forces. We are seeking a VP of Engineering to lead the development team, technology platform and help drive the company.
The Role
Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization.
Establish information system and technology priorities, goals, and objectives through collaboration and consultation with the senior management team. Recruit a world class engineering team and manage the recruiting process including attracting, screening, and closing high caliber candidates.
Work effectively with product managers, engineers, and the senior management team to allocate engineering resources appropriately across various projects, including balancing customer needs with longer term product roadmap needs.
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization. Create a productive work environment, and keep the team focused and fulfilled.
Take a hands-on approach to the entire software development life-cycle: perform day-to-day project management to ensure successful, on-time releases; demonstrate ownership and accountability for the entire product delivery process.
Collaborate with other executives to execute on overall company strategy.

Experience in a technology leadership role with a Social Media start-up company (VP, CIO, CTO)
Degree from a top engineering program. MBA is a plus
Track record of building technology teams (Applications and Infrastructure)
Demonstrated track record of successfully hiring, motivating and retaining talented developers.
10+ years of software development experience building consumer web platforms, PHP, CSS, Ruby on Rails
