VP – FI Compliance Advisory recruitment
Advice
- Providing advice to Sales and Credit Trading staff regarding applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies and procedures on a timely basis.
- Reviewing transactions for compliance with the above.
- Escalating transactions and issues to line manager where appropriate.
- Documenting advice given in line with Global Markets Compliance Procedures.
- Conducting due diligence and providing advice regarding relationships with introducers and distributors.
Dissemination of Information
- Drafting and distribution of new compliance polices and procedures resulting from regulatory developments.
- Identifying weaknesses and developing new Compliance policies resulting from developments in Sales and Credit Trading.
- Ensuring all relevant compliance guidance or policies are kept up to date and in line with business and regulatory developments.
- Maintain accurate records demonstrating dissemination of policies and procedures.
Compliance Training
- Evaluate training needs and draft appropriate training.
- Conduct training as agreed by line manager.
- Ensuring accurate training records are maintained.
- Undertaking Compliance Briefings for new members of Sales and Credit Trading staff in a timely fashion in line with Key Ops.
Office Coverage / Working Hours
- Expected working hours are 08:30 to 18:00 Monday to Friday. Although a VP is expected to liaise with colleagues to ensure office coverage between 08:00 to 18:30 (18:00 Fri). The VP will work on both the trading floor and Compliance Advisory.
Regulatory Developments
- Keeping abreast of all regulatory developments effecting Sales and Credit Trading.
- Keeping Sales and Credit Trading appraised of likely regulatory developments which could impact their activities as directed by line manager.
- Responding to Regulatory consultations as agreed with line manager.
- Representing GM Compliance at relevant industry associations as agreed with line manager.
- Working with Sales and Credit Trading to ensure compliance with new regulations when required.
Regulatory Inspections, Investigations and Enquires
- Manage regulatory inspections and investigations as determined by line manager.
- Responding to ad hoc regulatory enquiries as determined by line manager.
Internal Inspections
- Assist business with Internal Audit reviews of relevant business lines.
- Manage Compliance Monitoring Investigation ("MSI") reviews of relevant business lines.
Escalated Transactions
- Act as Compliance Reviewer of special transactions as determined by line manger.
- Schedule and attend meetings of relevant control staff to review escalated transactions as directed by line manager.
- Document and record facts regarding escalated transactions as directed by line manager.
Compliance Projects
- Act as Global Markets London Compliance resource on projects as determined by line manager.
Cover
- Act as cover for other members of the Global Markets London Compliance Department as determined by line manager.
Technical knowledge and ability
- Ideally a qualified solicitor, qualified foreign lawyer or legal background (derivatives/structured products, regulatory or financial litigation background preferred).
- Understanding of securities, corporate and contract law with an up-to-date knowledge of the rules of at least one of the main lead regulators (e.g. FSA, SEC, or BaFin).
- In depth operational knowledge (trading through to trade confirmation) of relevant fixed income products (structured transactions, credit derivatives, interest rate derivatives, FX and commodities).
- Ability to interpret, understand, advise upon and formulate an appropriate course of action on a broad range of legal and regulatory provisions.
- A clear understanding of the legal and compliance issues of an investment bank.
- Ability to analyse compliance risk and where necessary escalate matters to the appropriate management level.
- Excellent developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle and manage a number of different projects simultaneously.
- Excellent computer literacy (Excel, Word and Access)
- Ability to interact with and command respect from persons both inside and outside of the organisation.
