Department Overview

The Finance department covers Financial, Product Control, Management Information and Tax. Financial Control Canada is responsible for the preparation of statutory, regulatory, tax and management reports for Barclays Capital Canada.
It ensures integrity of financial information by implementing and monitoring appropriate controls throughout the organisation. In addition, a primary role of Financial Control is to collaborate with the businesses to develop innovative ways of adding shareholder value. This is achieved by striving to execute in a consistent and timely manner, and by implementing best practices globally across the division. Primary communications are with the American Balance Sheet Control team and Product Control Teams in NY, London Singapore, Canada Front Office and various Infrastructure areas (Operations, Treasury, Compliance, Legal etc). The Canadian business includes Global Markets Trading (Equities Broker Dealer), Commodities and Global Loans, Investment Banking (MA, Origination, Bonds and Debt Issuance), Distribution (Equities, FX, Investor Solutions, Rates and Commodities) and Equities Research. Main Function

The main function of the role is responsibility for local financial and regulatory reporting requirements (under IIROC OSFI rules) for the Canadian entities. This includes but is not limited to PL reporting, local MIS, financial reporting, local regulatory reporting, tax preparation and Capital liquidity reporting.
The role will also provide input to initiatives aimed at the focus areas of control, supporting the business, cost and efficiency, core infrastructure alignment and organisation, and people.

Main Duties

Perform local financial and regulatory reporting functions including:

Responsible for driving process efficiency improvements locally and contributing to local and regional project initiatives in finance. This will include input to local compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and Basel III, FATCA etc requirements and contribution to various Finance projects.
