VP, Financial Control – Top Tiered Investment Bank recruitment
The specific duties of the candidate can be broken down into 3 parts:
1) BAU Reporting
- Preparation and review of the monthly financial statements for the entities ensuring that all reporting is compliant with IFRS and Group reporting requirements
- Understanding and explaining to management significant movements in the balance sheet, in terms of changes in the business as well as movements in the market in general.
- Liaison with Product Control, Operations and other areas of Financial Control both in the UK and overseas to ensure that changes in the business are clearly understood by all parties and those issues are resolved in a timely manner.
2) Projects
- Review of current processes and controls within the financial reporting process with the aim of streamlining them.
- Engagement with New Products Team and Change Teams to assess appropriate accounting treatment and support new business build-outs.
- Involvement in ad hoc projects such as reporting and process reviews and system testing.
3) Team Management
- Lead a team of 3-5, acting as an escalation point.
- Lead the members to build a client service and controls driven culture in the team.
- Motivate team members and encourage innovative thinking and nurture ideas directed towards problem-solving and efficiencies.
- Manage team performance, training, career growth and retention.
He/She is expected to possess the following:
- Qualified accountant with 7-10 years of post-qualified experience
- Financial control experience from a large scale organisation with international exposure
- Strong control awareness
- At least 3-5 years of experience managing a team
