VP, Fixed Income Product Manager recruitment
The Product Manager is a key member of the Fixed Income Investment Team, with primary responsibility for articulating the group’s investment process, portfolio positioning and rationale for specific holdings within the portfolio. This individual works closely with the portfolio managers and acts as a liaison between the portfolio management team and both internal and external constituents. Key to success in this role will be the ability to think outside of the box with regard to marketing fixed income product as well as the ability to be nimble and re-focus quickly as business needs evolve.
While not responsible for portfolio purchase and sell decisions, this individual must have a strong understanding of the markets.
- Investment Team-Related: Work closely with the team’s PMs to become deeply knowledgeable of each portfolio manager’s investment strategy. This would include a detailed understanding of current investment themes being represented within the portfolio, knowledge of all portfolio holdings, risk attributes of the strategy, past and current positioning of the portfolio, near-term outlook for the strategy and performance attribution.
- Marketing Support: Develop a message for clients and prospects regarding the investment capabilities. Creating and review marketing and meeting materials, writing quarterly investment commentaries and providing insight for client reports, and liaising with the firm’s various marketing and RFP teams to ensure all data and responses regarding a given product are accurate and appropriate
- Business Management / Infrastructure: Act as “general manager” with the business units for the Institutional and Sub-advisory businesses. The Product Manager will be involved in product-related initiatives including new product development, market alignment, and product line rationalization as they pertain to the Institutional and Sub-advised businesses.
- Thought Leadership: Drive the development of research, presentations and position papers that support the firm’s history of innovation and thought leadership. To include monitoring key investment and industry trends, working with research and product development and identifying issues and topics that leverage insights into the marketplace.
- New Business Development: At the request of the business units, play a key role in managing new institutional and sub-advisory business opportunities by working with the distribution teams to educate consultants, investment platform gatekeepers and prospects on a given investment strategy. Participate in Finals presentations and due diligence meetings as needed to win new assignments. Serve as primary liaison between business unit and New Business Approval Committee on new business opportunities.
In order to be considered for this opportunity candidates must possess strong investment acumen, superior analytical ability, understanding of economics and capital markets, expertise/knowledge in Fixed Income; (ideally Alternative Asset classes), asset allocation, leadership skills, superior analytical abilities, 10 to 15 years of related experience. MBA/CFA preferred
