The Operations Control Oversight (OCO) team is responsible for ensuring best practices, operational consistency, and proper controls globally across BlackRock Investment Operations teams. The OCO team is tasked with providing oversight across all global Investment Operations teams including Trade Operations, Derivative Operations, Swap Payments, Collateral Management, Settlements, Corporate Actions, and operational activities outsourced to the firm's service providers. The OCO team plays a key role in operational globalization by connecting the regions, including US, EMEA, and APAC. As needed, the OCO team performs operational tasks to back up the various operations teams upon high volume demand and to ensure a clean end-of-day close across regions.
As a senior team with extensive product and operational expertise, the Operations Control Oversight team is heavily involved with fund launches, new product launches, system migrations, and various global initiatives. The OCO team works closely with teams across the firm including Portfolio Management, Global Client Group, Onboarding, Product Services, Legal Compliance, Technology, clients, and external service providers, and serves as a key contact and escalation point representing Investment Operations.
The Operations Control team produces various reporting and provides trend and root cause analysis to Senior Management. To ensure best practices, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation, the OCO team partners with Technology and various other internal groups to lead change.
Role overview:
Operations Control Oversight team members must demonstrate expertise across Investment Operations globally and ensure best practices, consistent processes, and appropriate operational controls. Knowledge across financial instruments and operational processes throughout the life of a trade is of paramount importance.
The Vice President role in the Singapore office is a senior role that faces off with senior Investment Operations representatives globally, and is a key point of contact for Portfolio Management teams located in offices within the Asia time zones. This position requires strong communication and relationship management skills to build a true partnership across Investment Operations.
The Vice President role also requires strong strategic planning and project management skills which will play a critical role in various global initiatives and leading change across Investment Operations.
Role responsibilities:
- Ensure best practices and operational consistency across the global Investment Operations teams
- Perform risk assessments, and establish, implement, and document control procedures
- Interact with various teams within Investment Operations and globally across the firm including Portfolio Management, Global Client Group, Onboarding, Product Services, Legal Compliance, Technology, clients, and external service providers, and serve as a key contact and escalation point representing Investment Operations
- Participate as key representative for Investment Operations in fund launches, new product launches, system migrations, and various global initiatives
- Coordinate with Technology and various internal groups on system enhancements and development
- Provide operational back up support across global Investment Operations as needed
- Produce, analyze, and distribute control reporting to Management
Key skills and attributes:
Technical and Product Expertise
- Strong expertise in trade operations with understanding of interdependencies between trade processing, custody, and fund accounting
- Strong understanding of financial instruments including Fixed Income, Derivatives, Futures, Options, FX, and Equities
- Strong understanding of operational processes, current market standards, and industry best practices for various financial instruments
- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to effectively draw on past experience and quickly absorb new concepts and business knowledge
- Strong business process analysis project management skills
- Detail-oriented and able to multi-task effectively
- Internal audit and risk analysis experience a plus but not required
