Qualifications:
General:
Position reports to Business Unit President. Peers include department leaders in Finance, HR, Sales, Marketing, and Support Operations (Transportation, Customer Service, Pricing, Warehousing Inventory management).
As a key member of the Executive Team, responsibilities include promoting a constant and endless improvement of the safety culture in all, developing and leading operational strategies that contribute to the continued success of the company. Oversee all manufacturing operations to ensure safe delivery of goals in areas of safety, profitability, manufacturing KPI’s, quality, and continuous cost reductions while maintaining a positive work climate. Operations structure includes:
•Eight (8) manufacturing plants (5 US, 3 Canada – one mothballed in each country)

A solid business acumen with strong leadership, safety minded, understanding of financials, good planning and budgeting skills are important to success. The position requires a proven performer who can balance multiple priorities and to achieve desired quantified results through others based in different locations. Additionally, success requires a demonstrated ability to constantly challenge the team on technical and managerial matters, work successfully within an international network, with an open mind to facilitate continuous exchanges with peers and experts based inside and outside North America, identify issues, make tough decisions, delegate appropriately, and follow up to ensure all objectives are achieved. A strong bias for action and results orientation are necessary. Drive, courage, commitment, integrity, and respect for others are all important characteristics
Travel is approximately 50% travel.

•Safety - Aim to zero accident
•Continuous Improvement - Drive continuous improvement toward ever improving operational excellence. Promote technology leadership in product and processes using the known best practices and training of employee. Establish appropriate systems, controls, and metrics to track results and ensure the safe production of superior quality products.
•Leadership - Actively lead programs to foster employee involvement and teamwork within the organization. Build a high performing, cohesive team by selecting, developing and promoting a diverse pool of top talent. Demonstrate high standards of transparent and inspirational communication while recognizing individual and team accomplishments.
•Compliance - Ensure that operations are in compliance with all government regulations related to product safety, employee safety, and environmental standards including FDA, OSHA, and EPA.
•Teams - Integrate cross-functionality with all levels of the total organization to enhance organizational support of business strategy and objectives.
•Strategy Planning – continuously assess the plant network and collaborate with the executive team to develop strategic plans supporting the long range plans of the business. Initiate, participate, and lead, where appropriate, programs and projects geared toward meeting current and future customer demands.
Ideal Candidate:
A seasoned leader with at least 15 years of manufacturing management experience, specific continuous process manufacturing experience required. A proven ability to successfully manage multi-site operations. A Bachelor - degree in, engineering or a related discipline is required; Master’s degree a plus.
Critical skills include but are not limited to:
•A passion for safety with personal accountability with proven ability to drive same throughout an organization.
•Proven record of success managing process driven 24x7 manufacturing organization
•Prior success operating in a highly matrixed organization where support comes from within an international matrix . Strong ability for team work.
•Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-site, geographically disperse organization with operations throughout both US Canada. International experience would be a plus.
•Strategy focus required to bring the Executive committee input coming from Manufacturing necessary to meet the operational plans of the Company.
•Implementer of cultural change who can build a strong organization with emphasis on process, maintenance and engineering with the plants
•Innovator who looks first to implement and improve the best practices from within the manufacturing organization, sister businesses within the Company, or Global Parent organization.
