VP – OTC Derivative Change/Program Management, Investment Bank recruitment
Working as part of a high profile team which is responsible for the execution, coordination, and management of large-scale, cross-divisional, or cross-functional change programs across all asset classes / businesses within the Asia Pacific region. Our client is seeking a senior VP level project / program manager to lead a series of 'front-to-back' regulatory change projects focusing on OTC derivatives reporting for the Asia Pacific region. You will work as part of a global program team and be responsible for the AsiaPac component of the program ensuring global consistency in terms of communication, project approach, solution definition and appropriately leveraging the global program model.
This role will work across Local and Global business and infrastructure groups to ensure all aspects of the program are planned, coordinated and executed in a timely and controlled manner. Key tasks include the initiation and oversight of implementation projects while ensuring the appropriate governance is in place, risks / issues are identified and managed, plans are defined and tracked, and transparency is present through clear status reporting and stakeholder engagement.
This is a 'front-to-back' business project management role within the global OTC Derivatives reform space; prior knowledge and recent experience in this area is essential.
Main Duties
- Translate the business strategy into executable plans and see these plans through to implementation.
- Initiate approved projects in line with the business objectives and scope.
- Manage program budget and identify program / project role requirements outside of individual functions and own process to fund and resource appropriately from internal or external sources
- Direction management of a virtual project team / working group - allocating tasks, monitoring progress, ongoing control/co-ordinate the work of the project working group.
- Risk Issue management - identify and manage all programme/project issues and risks.
- Stakeholder management and cross functional issue resolution regionally and globally.
- To appropriately probe and question on project issues, drawing on SMEs as required ensuring alignment of delivery to overall project objectives.
- Establish governance structure and chair/lead key project meetings, including steering committees and working groups
- Planning - prepare and maintain detailed and accurate project plans.
- Develop and implement the program / project communication strategy
- Identify and manage resource requirements in an effective manner that ensures project delivery while maintaining discipline around bandwidth and costs.
- Monitoring control - use of resources and funds against the original agreed provisions; implement robust change control mechanisms.
- Accurate and relevant status reporting across the overall programme.
- Conflict resolution in a high-pressure environment
- Ensure compliance with PMO, Programme Project standards
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior colleagues, transferring skills and expertise as required to ensure delivery against targets and continued professional and personal development.
You will be degree qualified from a good university preferably with tertiary qualifications (MBA, CA etc) with project management accreditation.
Essential Experience
- Experience as a 'business' project / program manager used to running large scale cross functional initiatives within an investment bank (8-10+ years relevant experience)
- Broad understanding of Dodd-Frank and corresponding AsiaPac regulations / legislation and be able to participate and present on issues related to this domain.
- Proven full lifecycle project delivery record from shaping and initiating through to implementation while leveraging a defined and controlled execution framework / method
- Proven track record in driving execution and delivery through virtual project teams.
- Ability to face off and engage confidently with senior stakeholders within a global bank.
- Cross border / multi geography project delivery experience including face off to global program for region.
- Experience on projects within US, EMEA and AsiaPac OTC derivatives regulatory reform environment ('change the bank' or 'run the bank') in particular, trade repository implementations.
