Responsibilities

Objective:
The Vice President-Manager will be responsible for successful delivery of several challenging projects within the Ratings Database Systems group.

Individual will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a large database development group that includes multiple teams and several vendor consulting partners.
- Ensuring successful delivery of various compliance, line of business, and maintenance projects.
- Improving quality and reliability of the software developed by team. Proactively identifying gaps in process and addressing them effectively.
- Managing end to end ratings data flow and improving the throughput and delivery of ratings data to external and internal clients.
- Proactive engagement with data governance group for data remediation of critical data issues.
- Participating in architectural reviews. Ensuring that technical reviews of applications in the portfolio follow the defined roadmap and the database design and maintenance abides by the enterprise architecture standards.
- Assisting team in adopting Enterprise Architecture strategy for a central Reporting platform.
- Ensuring the scalability, interoperability, reliability, and performance of all development initiatives in the group's portfolio.
- Working closely with various groups within MIT - including business analyst, product/project management, quality assurance and release management teams.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience required; Masters Degree preferred.
- 15+ years in progressively more senior positions as a software developer, designer, and development manager. The successful candidate must possess extensive experience in analysis, defining system architecture, design, and development of large scale enterprise systems.
- Proven leadership and managerial skills, capable of independently managing a large database team during multiple phases of the project lifecycle.
- Project management experience with complex projects and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Well-developed organizational and interpersonal communications skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, such as meeting facilitation, presentation, and documentation.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent experience in data modeling, database design/implementation, performance tuning and database reporting. Hands-on experience with Sybase and/or SQL Server required.
- Hands-on experience with using different software lifecycle methodologies e.g. RUP, Agile, Waterfall, etc.
- Proven experience developing and supporting systems that have been deployed and are in active production use.
- Experience using BI/Reporting tools such as Pentaho is preferred.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment, as well as independently.
- Exposure to or proven interest in the financial industry, banking, and/or financial markets.
