Job Description
CIT RAIL - Transportation Finance

The Vice President – Strategy and Business Development is a highly visible role that contributes to the strategic planning efforts for CIT Rail. This role reports to the Senior Vice President – Strategic Marketing and interacts daily with Rail’s President, commercial and operational leaders, as well as CIT Corporate and Transportation Finance stakeholders. The VP-Strategy and Business Development is key in developing and communicate business strategies, and in driving business improvement. Specific responsibilities include:

• Monitor and provide detailed analysis of economic trends, markets and competitors by leveraging various sources of market intelligence
• Communicate Rail’s strategy and market outlook effectively to various stakeholders (Transportation Finance, Treasury, Investor Relations, financing entities, regulators, etc).
• Develop and analyze revenue plan/forecast updates; communicate and make recommendations to Management based on performance; refine and enhance revenue plan/forecast process and analysis.
• Develop and communicate business cases for growth opportunities.
• Lead ad-hoc research projects for CIT Rail’s Management Team as needed leveraging Strategic Marketing resources.
• Drive development of customer relationship management application as a Sales information portal.
• Oversee Rail’s branding efforts, leveraging Transportation Finance Marketing and Advertising resources; develop and maintain a proactive marketing communication strategy.
• Lead the development of portfolio analytics to drive Rail business improvements.
• Drive customer segmentation and assist in development of actionable strategic account plans.
• Participate in CIT Rail’s efforts to redesigning Rail’s website.

Requirements
• 10+ years of market research/strategy and business development experience within rail or transportation industry highly preferred. Experience in transportation leasing industry a big plus.
• MBA with concentration in Marketing, Finance or Strategy preferred.
• Proven leadership ability with record of accomplishment.
• Ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interact with, and direct analytical resources.
• Ability to drive initiatives across Strategy and Business Development as well as other functional groups of the organization.
• Knowledge of how to leverage information management tools and the ability to forge data access channels in and outside the organization.
