VP – Technical Project Manager recruitment

What are the key accountabilities of this role?
Responsible for inception, planning, and delivery of one or more IT projects or project phases and associated leadership and management tasks.
Project Delivery- (Accountable to Senior Project Manager/Programme Manager)
- Responsible for the delivery of specific IT projects, spanning inception through to deployment, with accountability for resourcing, budget, timescale and quality.
This includes:
- Accountable for delivery via a matrix organisation, leveraging relevant engineering teams, to achieve target milestones.
- Managing the resourcing mix and working with non-UK based teams, predominantly Indian and Lithuanian team, to achieve right outcomes.
- Developing strong working relationships with supplier teams and managing third parties appropriately to protect project interests.
- Delivery of change projects or workstreams to achieve business objectives, in accordance with the mandated Project Management methodology and tools.
- Planning and monitoring the projects'/workstreams' progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate
- Managing the aggregate project/workstream budget, monitoring the expenditure and costs, delivering within budget and realising benefits as the Projects progress
- Communication with programme and project stakeholders, including Programme Manager, Cluster/Group Executive Committees, Project Steering Groups etc as required
- Managing dependencies and interfaces between projects and programme workstreams and the management of risks and issues affecting the workstream/portfolio of projects' delivery
- Reporting workstream/project portfolio progress at regular intervals to the Senior Project Manager/Programme Manager/Director as appropriate
- Act as a role model in terms of both delivery and behaviour for all staff in Change Delivery
Organisational Development
- Mentor and coach team colleagues by sharing experience.
- Input into the strategic direction of Corporate Technology Office
- Rigorously discharge all of Group's HR policies (including Performance Development, Equality Diversity, Disciplinary Grievance) in respect of line managed
- Input onto the on-going development of the Group's Change Governance, Methods, Standards and Tools
Personal and Professional development
- Maintain personal and professional development by regular and focused activity, which covers the complete development spectrum (i.e. conferences, courses, personal coaching, etc).
- Keep up to date personally with latest thinking in chosen subject/discipline by attending and presenting at conferences, producing research material for leading-edge journals, etc.
- Achieve the required level of accreditation in the Group's mandated Methodology and Tools
- Demonstrate total commitment to the personal and professional development of all members of Change Delivery
Skills
What do you need to be successful in this role?
- Possesses excellent general understanding of technology principles, concepts, applications and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with ITIL concepts plus one or more delivery methodologies.
- Good understanding of BCM concepts, DR provision.
- Proven project and change management skills and expertise
- Good understanding of Project Management methods and disciplines
- Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle

Experience:
- Delivery experience with some of the following: solution applications (front, middle, backend), infrastructure (Unix, Windows, Tandem, MQ, Networks)
- Good grasp of scope definition, control structures, methodology deliverables
- Previous experience of leading projects £500k
- Familiarity with Barclays or similar large scale organisational setup
- Management of third party suppliers including contract negotiation, milestone payments and associated quality controls
- Ability to quickly understand the scope of a project/workstream and support it's objectives to 'hit the ground running' in an unfamiliar environment
Preferred:
- Project management certifications e.g. PMI, Prince 2 etc
- Experience of Service Implementation and Transition..
- Knowledge of Global Payment processing and associated IT systems
- Background in application delivery
