VP/ED – COO Operating Model Design Lead recruitment
This role will sit within the Business Management group which is responsible for the development of operating model, planning and MI, as well as delivering centralised Business Management support to each business area.
Supported by a small analysis team, you will support the COO and Executive Leadership team in developing an operating model for COO that is efficient, client focused and simple to access, while working closely with the broader Global Markets business to support the key strategic group initiatives.
The accountabilities of the role are as follows
- Shape the COO strategic agenda and provide decision support to the COO in relation in relation to Operating Model and efficiency strategy.
- Own the development of the Operating Model for the COO, and monitor business design against the Operating Model
- Create a simple, living set of COO Operating Model deliverables that shape COO Planning (organisation design, functional architecture, Location Strategy etc)
- Drive development of MI required to fully understand cost base drivers for COO, at function, process and activity level (headcount, cost, volume, capacity, productivity)
- Provide analytical capability to support operating model change and organisational design initiatives
- Provide consistently excellent delivery of high quality analysis and presentation to shape strategic initiatives
- Support development of ad hoc reports / presentations and external and internal presentational / communications materials for the COO
- Potentially, develop a central Lean / Six Sigma capability to support and coordinate Lean / Six Sigma activities within the different departments
The key capabilities required for the role are as follows:
- A highly motivated and experienced strategic facilitator and planner, adept at facilitating senior management discussion and comfortable in owning the strategic agenda.
- Strong markets and investment banking experience and knowledge of associated product set, business and regulatory trends
- Subject matter expert in all aspects of Operational delivery and cost base drivers for a Global Banking Markets business
- Track record in the development of strategic business cases and providing structured business analysis
- Highly comfortable in specifying and consuming financial and operational MI
- Lean / Six Sigma experience would be desirable
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder management capabilities, able to communicate complex issues and adapt style and content according to target audience
- Experience of managing an analysis team within a Consulting or banking environment
- Strong appetite to continually develop understanding of the business / organisation
- Strong network of industry contacts (customers, peers, service providers, consultancies)
