VP/SVP-Institutional Credit Professional
Main Responsibilities:-
- Jointly approve (or decline) credit applications in line with the appropriate Business Banking Credit delegated authorities
- Possess a very strong knowledge of the industries within the assigned portfolio.
- Undertake a comprehensive risk analysis for each credit submission received, including financial performance, trends and forecasts, ability to repay; economic and industry conditions affecting the customer; continued acceptability of borrower's products and markets; environmental, regulatory issues, legal and foreign exchange risks.
- Liaise with the business unit Client Director and the relevant product area as required at all stages during the decision making process to ensure that the process remains on track for completion within agreed time frames. Written submissions are required in all cases plus verbal presentations to Committees.
- Liaise with Business Banking Client Director to establish the appropriate working priorities for credit submissions when time deadlines clash or are under pressure for delivery.
- Review and agree appropriate business development strategies (agreed with Business Banking) with Head of Credit.
- Earliest possible identification and close monitoring of problem or potential problem loans, including determining corrective action required and monitoring corrective action plans through to completion.
Main Requirements:-
- Minimum Degree in accounting and finance with further qualifications in areas such as economics, law, statistics, or mathematics is desirable.
- Post Graduate studies in any of the above would be seen as advantageous.
- A highly experienced career banking/finance professional with 10-15 years in direct deal making roles within a financial institution.
- In-depth industry knowledge and credit sign off experience within Corporate/Institutional/Trade Finance/Debt Capital Markets portfolios
- Experienced with a global firm - offshore working experience in the finance industry would be favourable
- Ability to understand global, regional and industry trends and their likely impact on the finance industry generally and the origination of credit and the management of asset quality in particular.
- Very strong cash flow management and analytical skills - sound Excel skills and ability to review spreadsheet based work.
- Proven track record of designing, negotiating and closing deals
- Strong ability to design, build and present Business Case material to the appropriate executives or committees for approval.
- Clear ability to teach and mentor own staff in the above skill base to ensure best practice is quickly and efficiently transferred
This is a newly created role and is ideal for an individual who is seeking new challenges. The ideal candidate should ideally have sound local, China Corporate/ Institutional Banking industry experience, fluent Mandarin and be well connected in the banking industry in Shanghai.
