Institutional Banking Markets (IBM) is responsible for the provision of products and services to nearly 3000 major corporate, institutional and government clients. This is achieved through origination, structuring and execution of on and off balance sheet products that are enhanced through the efficient application of taxation, accounting, risk and capital management technologies. Institutional Banking Markets is the primary face to the market for all complex financing and advisory functions for the Bank’s corporate and government clients.
The Natural Resources Solutions (NRS) team is a blend of finance and industry professionals from numerous disciplines including engineers, geologists, lawyers, and accountants who are solely focused on natural resources. We focus on all facets of the Resources sector, including but not limited to, metals mining, oil gas (including unconventional gas) and petrochemicals.
Our client base ranges from global multi-nationals and global trading houses, to small emerging producers.
Role Purpose
The overall purpose of the role is the development and on-going Relationship Management of Natural Resources Clients across the US business. Day to day you will be responsible for origination of bank debt financing transactions.
Key Accountabilities
- Identification, marketing, origination and structuring of transactions to new to bank and existing clients consistent with the Group’s Risk Appetite Statement and Industry Strategy.
- Development and on-going relationship management of Natural Resources clients.
- Partner with our product specialists to actively identify client cross-selling opportunities.
- Mentor and lead junior team members, offering advice and training where necessary in areas such as proposal/pitch development, as well as overall deal execution.
- Undertake complex financial modelling as necessary.
- Conduct industry research to develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans.
- Play a key role in deal execution and annual credit reviews, including the development of internal credit papers and due diligence.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential
- Degree in Business, Finance, Legal or Engineering.
- 8- 12 years of Banking experience with a track record of originating and executing financing transactions within the Natural Resources industry (Primary Mining and Secondary OG experience relationships).
- Existing relationships within the North American Natural Resource sector.
- Sound understanding of the Natural Resources industry and the key drivers affecting the industry.
- Successful track record in developing new client relationships within the Natural Resources Industry as well as proven experience in leveraging existing client relationships (i.e. cross selling products and services).
- In depth product knowledge across project finance, corporate lending, credit, treasury and other specialized corporate finance products.
- Appropriate knowledge of risk management requirements of a major financial institution.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
