Warehouse Manager (Y-SCM) (Job Number:303220) Description: Dept of State Warehouse Manager The Logistics and Engineering Solutions Business Unit/ Supply Chain Integration Operation of SAIC is looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to ensure stock is appropriately received, stocked and shipped to the government customers. JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidate is responsible for the overall management of all activities in the warehouse. They will handle and process material for the customer, maintain the warehouse, equipment, and storage/inventory areas and act in a supervisory role. The will also oversee the activities of a department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods used when conducting work and employees. * Ensure efficient movement of materials required to meet production schedules * Evaluate material shortages and coordinate purchase requisition orders for material requirements * Works on problems of moderate scope * Contribute to the implementation of organization's goals and objectives. * Train other team members * Coordinate/assign work to other team members * As needed, assist warehouse personnel with the following activities: * Inspect incoming material/record receipt on compute * Solve problems with suppliers and buyers * Sort stock/nonconforming material * Provide proof of delivery * Operate pallet jacks and forklift to move material * Manually wrap/package material * Maintain building/equipment * Keep records and file * Ship outbound material * Operate sealing machines to package material * Operate pallet wrapper and strapping machine * Operate hand and power tools * Prepare bills of lading and related paperwork * Operate a computer manifest system for UPS/Parcel Post Qualifications: REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION: Candidate must have the ability to operate mechanical equipment for packaging, receiving and shipment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well as be comfortable working with people. Candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience). Must speak, write, read, and understand English, and have at 5-7 years warehouse supervisory experience. Candidate must possess strong organizational and planning skills and be highly detailed oriented. * The ability to obtain a US government Secret clearance may be required * An active US Government Secret clearance is a plus * Experience working on a government contract is a plus * Export compliance experience is also a plus Mental demands of the job include: * Reading, detail work, mathematics, reasoning, training, measuring, flexibility to changing workload * Create and administer performance evaluations * Ability to work in small teams * Ability to train others individually and in groups * Ability to interact with all levels of management * Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously * Strong problem solving skills Physical demands include lifting (over 50 lbs), driving forklift, cleaning parts, writing, speaking to customer, sitting, attendance, hearing, pushing, standing, reading, walking and climbing. May be exposed to fumes, grease, heat/cold, dust, noise, and chemical spills. Candidate must be comfortable using the following equipment: * Forklift, pallet jack, cart and dolly * Computer terminal * Sealing machine * Pallet wrapper, nail gun, power/hand tools * Shipping material * Packaging machine * Test Inspection Equipment * Hand packaging, tape, picking The warehouse manager will have contact internally with buyers, program managers, materials managers and co-workers.
