Key Roles Responsibilities

Assist the Country Head of Wholesale Bank Compliance, Singapore to:
* Ensure effective management of all WB Compliance matters in Singapore (including training).
* Provide WB Compliance support for Global Markets, Transaction Banking and OCC businesses in [Country];
* Review the WB compliance and regulatory risk framework identifying gaps in coverage;
* Identify any new rules and or regulations applicable to the local WB business and partner with local WB management to identify business impact before developing policies and procedures to minimize compliance and regulatory risk, benchmarking against best industry practice. Consideration must be given to any potential cross border implications of such rule regulatory changes at all times, liaising with the Regional Head of WB Compliance, South East Asia and the local Country Head of Compliance at all times;
* In conjunction with the business, determine regulatory and compliance risk parameters for establishing and delivering an effective Compliance monitoring programme.
* Provide a pro-active advisory service to the local WB businesses and generally in relation to regulatory, reputational and ethical matters, not only responding to requests for advice, but where appropriate taking the initiative in volunteering advice the need for which may not have been appreciated.
* Promote and embed a compliance culture throughout the local WB business.
* Secure early involvement of the compliance function in the design and structuring of new products and systems, so that they conform to local regulatory requirements and internal compliance and ethical standards including representation on business, product and strategy risk, governance and management committees.

Qualifications Skills

* Good educational background, ideally to degree or equivalent level.
* Good knowledge of local rules and regulations.
* Career experience at any of the following within the relevant jurisdiction(s): law firm, financial institution, regulator or compliance consultancy practice (unless hiring direct from University)
* Fully committed to highly responsive delivery. Demonstrably able to assist Head of WB Compliance, Singapore in delivery of strong (i) analytical, innovative advisory and monitoring skills (ii) responsibility and organisation skills (iii) people management skills (iv) communication (written and verbal) skills (v) listening and influencing skills (vi) collaborative and team playing skills and (vi) excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
* A strong learner, intellect and relater. Ability to work both independently within a team and with appropriate supervision with a desire to deliver results. Self-motivated and self-reliant with genuine desire to get things done and to do it right, as well as the ability to provide practical and effective advice. Being able to accept challenge and change, listen to the other point of view and adapt your approach accordingly is essential.
* Good judgement. Diplomacy, empathy and a 'can-do attitude'. Politeness, sensitivity and the ability to gently, but professionally stand your ground when needed.
* An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions. Personal authority and integrity. Independence, creativity, resourcefulness and resilience.
* Sound working knowledge of MS Office suite particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
